  6. Who’s Following Who on Twitter?

  7. Kudos News and News Delivery Team The daily produced, consumer- targeted Mayo Clinic Minute is now starting to get some traction. With our AOL.ONTV agreement, they receive our feed from the Mayo Clinic News Network, then feed videos to 1500 other digital media groups, including the Huffington Post. (This example was on their front page) Last week, Ragan Communications mentioned the Mayo Clinic Minute  in their recent newsletter and highlighted that we approach this from a consumer friendly angle.   The Mayo Clinic Minute is available for all 1400 Media News Network Members (including the Apple Feed and Tribune Content Media) and the Public every day in addition to the other five or six stories we are now delivering on a daily basis.

  8. Congratulations, Maren (Meyer, now Johnsrud)!

  9. Praise and Recognition

  10. Kudos Colin Superb materials. I shall continue to review and study. Michael Camilleri, M.D.

  11. Kudos Sharon and Media Team Congratulations all – appreciate all, everyone has done in support of this. Thanks again – terrific work! Completely agree – congratulations and thank you! This was just discussed and recognized at the BOG – called out the work of the entire team on this + your leadership in making it happen – Dr. Decker and Dr. JHN both spoke very favorably of this entire effort – congrats and thanks again! Chris Gade Thank you for all of your hard work on this initiative. Please pass on our thanks to the rest of the team. Job well done! John T. Wald, M.D. My thanks to all of you, and the many others, who helped to make this program a success and a source of pride for all of us. Wyatt Decker, M.D. We had at least five Mayo hits this week from the National Press Foundation obesity program journalists. Awesome work! Karl Oestreich Love it!  Woot! Woot! Thanks for the update Sharon -- love the results we are seeing from this! Amy Davis

  12. Kudos Saloni Thought I would share some really great news with you regarding our staff satisfaction scores. I attribute the increase directly to Saloni and all of the support she has provided on the internal communication plan. Results from Heidi’s direct reports (13 people) on Q22.  “when changes in programs, policies and procedures are made in my work unit, communication is usually handled well” 100% satisfaction. Increase of 44% from the last survey. Results from all of the Research Operations Managers (32 people) on Q22. (same question as above) 81% satisfaction. Increase of 11% from the last survey. Also, Dr. Bharucha nailed it today. Couldn’t have scripted him better! The audience clapped after the Clinical Trials presentation by Dr. Barucha! Woot, woot! Heidi L. Dieter

  13. Kudos Susan Nice work by Susan Barber Lindquist in her first run at herding cats for the 2015 performance report. We had to revise our timeline after realizing that the Mayo Clinic treasury department uploaded our audited 2015 financial statements on Feb. 23 to a public web site — six days earlier than we had anticipated. Susan flawlessly negotiated embargoed interviews for Pat McCarty in finance with reporters at the Star Tribune and Post-Bulletin while waiting in the Sky Harbor Airport on her way back to Minneapolis.  Karl Oestreich

  14. Kudos Traci Congratulations to Traci Klein for leading our Targeted Consumer Engagement Campaign efforts in NYC with Mayo’s sponsorship of the Woman’s Day Red Dress Awards. Mayo Clinic will be working closely with five women over the next year to improve their health — a real cool part of our sponsorship which should have positive effects on their health. Womansday.com averages 5.6 million unique views per month, in addition to its 17 million readers for each issue. This important helps build Mayo Clinic’s brand in New York and on the East Coast in venues that allow for much networking and relationship-building and to build Mayo Clinic’s brand among reputable journalistic brands and companies, influential potential patients and national journalists. Karl Oestreich

  15. Kudos Bob and Jeff (Satre) Thanks for the pleasure of going through DE. As always, and in its entirety, this is truly exceptional and brilliant work: 1)  biomedical research and its discoveries described in clear, compelling, and readily understood language; 2) pictures and images that, to use the trope, are “worth more than a thousand words;” 3) cohesive themes, especially that of team science, that bind each story into a composite whole; and 4) a wonderful, delicately balanced, and elegant portrayal of the strength and virtues of Mayo for its biomedical research and its dedication to patient care. I read each word, and from cover to cover.  I have some quite trivial edits/suggestions for your consideration which I will bring to our meeting today. Karl Nath, M.D.

  16. Thank You A big, big thank you to the more than 20 volunteers from the Division of Communications who contributed their time and talents for the Dalai Lama event on Feb. 29th. I know it was a significant time commitment and I really appreciate you taking the time to help out! One volunteer in particular went WAY above and beyond the call of duty. As the crowd was dispersing, Traci Klein ended up spending ~90 minutes helping a very ill woman from the audience get some water so she could take her overdue pills, get to a bathroom, get a wheelchair, and get connected with her ride home. “Compassion in Health Care” personified!! Ginger Plumbo

  17. Kudos Karl I am contacting you about the outstanding work of Karl Oestreich.  On Wednesday, March 2, Karl took time to talk via Skype with my class of 33 seniors in UW-Eau Claire’s integrated strategic communication program, which includes both advertising and PR majors.  Karl is articulate and passionate about his work for Mayo Clinic. I wanted you to know how well he represents Mayo Clinic, and how well he connects with students in explaining the work of professional strategic communicators.  Karl has spoken with my classes in previous semesters as well, and I continue to invite him to return based on highly positive student feedback.  I'm optimistic that one result of Karl’s presentation to the class is a number of students will apply for internships at Mayo Clinic, and I’m certain that all of them will be sharing with their family and friends the wonderful work that Mayo Clinic does.  Maureen Schriner, Ph.D. Karl, thanks for taking time to do this – terrific that you did and for being the strong role model you are, both for these students and all of us! Chris Gade

Jason got back with me right away, Matt from his team connected with Linda immediately and she had it posted in two days. Kudos to Linda and teamwork with Development. Ron Petrovich

  20. Kudos Research Team Heidi Dieter shared prior to Dept/Div chair meeting how absolutely thrilled Research Leadership is w/ their public affairs support – Fran and Saloni, the two of you were specifically mentioned for what you have brought since your arrival – they strongly value your work; perspective; and expertise. Thank you for all you are doing each day! Chris Gade

  21. Kudos Dennis OMG, You guys do wonderful work! Thank you VERY much; this is beautiful.  SvetomirMarkovic, M.D., Ph.D.

  23. Kudos Duska My journey home went smoothly and I am now back in Dublin. I just wanted to drop you a quick note to say thank you so much for all the work you did on my behalf in arranging my visit. The visit was excellent and met all my expectations. Please pass on my thanks and best wishes to everyone that I met. People were very generous with their time and insight. I will begin the process of writing the draft chapter featuring Mayo. It will take approximately 3-4 weeks and once ready I will send for review and comment. Brian MacNiece

  24. Kudos Duska Fyi. Good article today in the Strib about the BSC collaboration. Duska, thank you for all your help in setting this up and managing the PR on the collaboration. Jim Rogers

  25. Kudos Brett I finally got the magazine numbers. They’re pretty decent. I also included numbers for the past few years for comparison. Notice the number of gifts have held pretty constant, but the average gift has risen. Let me know if you have any questions. 2105Fall: 781 gifts — $750,297. Top five gifts — two $100,000, one $50,000, two $25,000, which is common. All top five gifts are from benefactors with a DO assigned and were very likely solicited gifts. Totals: 1135 gifts — $1,033,191 2014(not a representative year — the spring issue had a misprint on BRE and fall issue released late) — Fall: 286 gifts — $140.706. Totals: 497 gifts — $346,424 2013Fall: 565 gifts — $436,112. Totals: 1097 gifts — $697,332 2012Fall — 629 gifts — $484,777. Totals: 1126 gifts — $602,467

  26. Kudos Cindy As we wind up our latest news-worthy events, I wanted to take a moment to thank you and your staff for your support,  all of the excellent work we’ve benefitted from over the last year, and to recap some of the highlights.   As always it is a pleasure to work with you and your team. Over the past year we have watched you work tirelessly to promote the ways in which the Mayo community demonstrates commitment to Mayo values and strategic goals.  In addition to helping us build internal recognition of the resources available to the three shields, we’ve partnered with you to promote community engagement and benefactor events. We worked hand in hand with both you and your team; and it has been a very well-coordinated experience. You and your team are the consummate professionals; creative, enthusiastic, and always supportive.  We’ve enjoyed providing a platform for media-related events and look forward to much more in the coming years. 27. Kudos Carey Thanks for all of your hard work on the Vintage Club events in Indian Wells, CA. The presenters did a great job with the material and you absolutely set us up for success! We appreciate your attention to detail and all of the effort you put toward this event. Benefactors absolutely  loved the presentations. I look forward to working with you in the future. Carolyn has the final presentation on her laptop and we will make sure it’s saved into a folder. Sarah Schmermund

  28. Kudos Carmen I am covering press call this week, and I wanted to let you know that Carmen has done a FANTASTIC job with the MANY requests (media and non-media) that have come in via 5005 and the news bureau inbox this week. We all know that we receive a lot of requests, but this week has been overwhelmingly busy with requests and some were quite interesting and I felt they may have been brought on by the full moon.  She’s doing a great job, especially managing all of these from Plummer where she can’t just pop into someone’s office to ask a quick question.
