  2. What exactly is batting and how does it benefit you? Cotton batting is by far the most popular batting choice among quilters today. Because it has been inducted into the crafting Hall of Fame, some may refer to it as the quilting world's MVP. 100% Cotton batting is far from average, despite its popularity. Cotton batting is soft, durable, and all-natural, which has its advantages and disadvantages (depending on what you want). On the blog, we've talked a lot about batting, and cotton. www.mstexaustralia.com

  3. Warm Comfort with 100% Cotton Batting Options There aren't a massive range of cotton batting options, but there are a few good ones, and each has its own set of benefits! 100% cotton batting is available in white, natural, and even black. When working on a quilt top with a lot of dark blues, greens, and reds where we wanted to keep the intense saturation of the quilt top, we discovered black batting. Read this post to learn more about our deep dive into the world of aboriginal art fabric suppliers. But, since black batting isn't common in 100% cotton batting (it's more common in cotton blends), let's talk about the other two colours: white and natural. www.mstexaustralia.com

  4. Batting made entirely of natural cotton If you're looking for cotton batting, don't just grab the first package that says "100%" on it. Cotton batting in white and natural colours can look very different... especially if your quilt top contains a lot of pure, crisp white quilting fabric from Australia. Unbleached “natural” cotton batting is great for going green (in the environmental sense), but not so great if you want your whites to stay white. Natural cotton batting has a yellowish tint that can show through the pure aboriginal cotton fabric, and you probably chose that bright white for a reason. White quilt tops, in other words, adore white cotton batting. www.mstexaustralia.com
