Target of the basics lecture It’s one of the important tasks of this basics lecture to systematize the high number of the so different conveying devices, to show their advantages and disadvantages in different applications and to explain you the basics of conveying elements that way, that you are able to operate or to plan the tasks of the management of conveying related, material flow related or logistic facilities in future and to know the basic elements for their construction and development.

Because of this a conveying device classification will not occur exclusive with technical, but rather with different system related criteria (ground-based, elevated, above-grounded and respectively stationary, mobile etc.) concerning the operation circumstance and the task.

  33. Definition steady conveyor • an continuous (bulk material) or discrete continuous (unit load) conveying good stream • work during a longer period, whereat their drives, if existent, operate in stationary continuous operation and their bearing parts are not single driven • loading and unloading occur during the operation. Their load carrying equipments are thereby always (roller conveyor, conveying belts etc.) or almost always (Chain conveyor, scoop chain conveyor) ready for receiving and releasing • are basically provided with stationary equipments, like rails, inductors and similar, which constrict their flexibility and is frequently a balk for other work appliances. Chain conveyor peripatetic table Roller conveyor -stationary -traction device -stationary -traction device -stationary -without traction device -above ground -mechanized or automatized -elevated -mechanized or automatized -elevated -mechanized or automatized 30

  34. Definition unsteady conveyor • create a broken conveying good stream and work in single operation cycles with defined times • drives operate at intermittent duty or short time rating, because their loading and unloading occur during the downtime • Accordingly their load carrying equipments are often only ready for load receiving and releasing at defined points • Time for load drives, empty drives, follow-up drives and downtimes with different lengths rotate each other • mostly each bearing part has an automotive. Exceptions are hauler • can be realized with and without stationary equipments and have accordant differences in the flexibility and in the level of their balk creation. Chain conveyor Gantry crane Automated guided vehicle system AGV -stationary -traction device -guided mobile -single drive -stationary -without traction device -above ground -mechanized or automatized -above ground -operated manual -elevated -mechanized or automatized 31

• Presentation of unsteady and belt conveyor with the target to explain • Their advantages and disadvantages, • Their typically application areas and • Their basic construction differences
