In our experience, research impacts are most • likely to be seen when: • The project has been correctly identified, the team has • understood the cause of the problem, and the research • is addressing the problem (rather than its symptoms) • Potential users of the research, and organisations which • hold the key to solving non-research aspects of the problem • being investigated are involved alongside scientists as equal • partners in designing and implementing the research from ‘RESEARCH’ to ‘INNOVATION’

  5. and: • Local or national government policy supports uptake of • the research results; or the project can bring about a • change in policy • Science is valued within the ‘culture’ of organisations • making decisions about agriculture from ‘RESEARCH’ to ‘INNOVATION’
