  1. The Prophecy of Daniel 9:24-27 24 Seventy Sevens are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, • [b;v, • The Hebrew word for seven: • The feminine plural: • The masculine plural: • The word for seventy: • Literal Hebrew: • "Sevens Seventy": • tA[buv; • ~y[ibuv' • ~y[ib.vi • ~y[ib.vi • ~y[ibuv'

  2. The Prophecy of Daniel 9:24-27 24 Seventy Sevens are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, • A "Seven" is a Sabbatical Period. • In Deut. 15:9, the Hebrew text calls the sabbath year 'the year of the seven'. • There were six years to plant and reap, and then one year of rest, the seventh year (a sabbath year). • They are referred to as "seven years" (Lev. 25:8) • The 70 year exile contained 10 sabbath years. • This prophecy is seven times 10 sabbath years • God would punish Israel seven times over (Lev. 26:18) • 10 sabbath years in 70 years x 7 is 70 sabbath years in 490 years. • "Thy people" is Israel. • "Thy holy city" is Jerusalem. 60

  3. to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Holy of Holies. • To finish transgression for the land of Israel: "I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day" (Zech. 3:9). This is not complete yet. • Nor is everlasting righteousness complete for Israel yet. • Nor is the vision and prophecy complete. • Nor is the Temple restored (Daniel 8:14). • These things are completed on the 'Day of Atonement' (Lev. 16:30) • These matters are taken up in the End of Days Presentation

  4. 25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto Prince Messiah shall be: Seven Sevens, and Sixty and two Sevens: (the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.) 26 And after Sixty and two Sevens shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: • This prophecy predicts the comings of Messiah using the sabbatical period measurement method. • It begins with a commandment to rebuild Jerusalem • It notes something after seven sabbatic periods • It tells us that Messiah dies after an additional 62 sabbatic periods. • The total sabbatic years from the rebuilding of the city to Messiah's Passion is 69.

  5. 26b And the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 And it shall confirm the covenant with many for one Seven: and in the midst of the Seven he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolator. • The people of the prince is Rome, who came in A.D. 66 • They destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple in A.D. 70 • Jerusalem was completely desolated in A.D. 135. • The 70th sabbatic year is delayed until the day of Yahweh. • The 70th sabbatic period is taken up in the End of Days presentation.

  6. The beginning point … 25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem …

  7. … is when Nehemiah rebuilt the city: 2:1 And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, … I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favor in thy sight, that thou would send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers' sepulchers, that I may build it. (Nehemiah 2:1-5).

  8. When was the 20th Year of Artaxerxes And the month of Nisan? • April 13, 445 B.C.— April 2, 444 B.C. = Persian 20th year • Pg. 32 Babylonian Chronology, 626 B.C.—A.D. 75 • Biblical AVIV (Nisan) THR 4/ 2/-444 29 days Jul: 1559344.16 • Biblical New Moon sighting at sunset: 4/2. 20th Year 445 B.C. 444 B.C. Nisan

  9. How do we know this date is correct? • The date agrees with the accepted date by secular historians. • The date agrees with VAT 5047 (Venus Astronomical Text) • The date agrees with the Saros Tablets. • The date agrees with the received Chronology of Ptolemy. • Nehemiah 1:1 shows that a Tishri based year was used. • This gives us three independent sources, • plus the backing of historians 20th Year 445 B.C. 444 B.C. 10. … to the point of Messiah's cutting off: … unto the Messiah the Prince shall be Seven Sevens, and Sixty and two Sevens: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. 26 And after Sixty and two Sevens shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself

  11. … is in A.D. 34 A.D. 33 A.D. 34 Nisan Yeshua's Death And Resurrection … and this was the subject of the previous presentation on the Passion Chronology

  12. How do we know that this date is correct? • The date is the only date in Finegan's Handbook of Biblical Chronology, Rev. Ed, as calculated by the astronomer Fotheringham, to give a Wednesday date for the 14th of Nisan compatible with the Sabbath resurrection. • The date is the only Wednesday date that agrees with the calendar according to the first observation of the new moon in Jerusalem, per Torah requirements, and confirmed in the Talmud. • The date is the only Wednesday date that agrees with normal intercalation of the 13th month and the proper timing for the ripening of the barely. • The date is the only date to allow a four year ministry of Yeshua per the requirements of Luke 13:6-9. • The date is the only date to allow us to fit all of John's three Passovers into the chronology, and Luke's two extra Passovers (Luke 6:1 and Luke 13). • The date agrees with all other data about the birth of Yeshua in 3 B.C., and the start of his ministry in A.D. 30. • Any earlier date would falsify Daniel's Prophecy.

  13. 8. The date was arrived at by the Orthodox Jewish Scholar Solomon Zeitlin, and published in the Journal of Biblical Literature.

  14. The beginning point to the cutting off of Messiah … 20th Year 445 B.C. 444 B.C. Nisan Decree Date Nisan Yeshua's Death And Resurrection A.D. 33 A.D. 34

  15. … must contain an interval of: … Seven Sevens, and Sixty and two Sevens …

  16. The Hebrew Text: ~yIn:v.W ~yVivi ~y[ibuv'w> h['b.vi ~y[ibuv' … seven sevens, and sixty and two sevens …

  17. And From page 988 of The New Brown-Driver-Briggs-Gesenius Hebrew And English Lexicon: 7620 †h[;Wbv' n.m.Dn 9,27 Period of seven (days, years), heptad, week …; late ~y[ibuv' Dan 924 +4t. Translated by the Stone Edition TANACH as "septets," i.e. "sevens". Rendered by H.W. Guggenheimer in "Seder Olam: The Rabbinic View of Biblical Chronology" as "Sabbatical periods" (pg. 242).

  18. And From page 2522 of Reuben Alcalay's Complete Hebrew-English Dictionary: [;WbV'h; tn:v.Shemittah (q.v.) Deuteronomy 15:9 "Year-of the-seven year-of the-Shemittah (release)" hJ'miV.h; tn:v. [b;V,h;-tn:v. [;WbV' • ~y[iWbv'

  19. Also From page 2522 of Reuben Alcalay's Complete Hebrew-English Dictionary: y[eWbv. , ~y[iWbv' , [;WbV'; week; seven days; seven years

  20. So What are these Sevens? Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying, year of the seven, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou givest him nought; and he cry unto Yahweh against thee, and it be sin unto thee (Deut. 15:9) [b;V,h;-tn:v.= year of the seven. The sevens are either sabbatical periods (seven year periods) or the sabbatical years themselves. We will work the prophecy both ways.

  21. How we know Daniel Understood Sabbatical Years In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. (Dan. 9:2) To fulfill the word of Yahweh by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her Sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept Sabbath, to fulfill seventy years. (2Chron. 36:21) How many sabbatical years did Israel break?

  22. Exactly Seventy According to Ezekiel 4:5-6 the sin of Israel was 390 years, and the sin of Judah was 40 years. Combine these two numbers for a total of 430 years. Now in the 430 years there were: * 64 seventh year sabbaticals * 6 Jubilee year sabbaticals (Note 430/7 = 61 and 430/49 = 9, but when the chronology is worked out the sin years are not continuous but broken up by periods of repentance; all these years are precisely mapped out in the Chronology Scroll)

  23. What Torah says about the Sabbatical Years And thou shall number seven Sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven Sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years. 9 Then shall thou cause the trumpet of the jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. 10 And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family. (Lev. 25:8-10).

  24. So the 70 years of exile were based on exactly 70 sabbatical years that Israel broke. Daniel expects the restoration of the captivity into the age to come. Why then does the Angel say, "Seventy Sevens" (Dan 9:24?) And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins. (Lev. 26:18). Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins. (Lev. 26:24).

  25. So then it is clear that the sevens are sabbatical years, or sabbatical periods. How do we fit seven sabbatical years and sixty two sabbatical years into the interval? 20th Year 445 B.C. 444 B.C. Nisan Decree Date Nisan Yeshua's Death And Resurrection A.D. 33 A.D. 34

  26. The prophecy says "after" the "sixty two sevens" Messiah will be cut off. This means that the ending sabbatical year must terminate before Yeshua's death and resurrection: 62nd Sab A.D. 32 A.D. 33 A.D. 34 Nisan Yeshua's Death And Resurrection

  27. On the other hand to fit seven sevens plus sixty Two sevens into the interval requires the first Sabbatical year to be in 445/444 B.C. 1st Sabb 445 B.C. 444 B.C. Nisan issuance of Decree to rebuild

  28. The fit is so constrained that the sabbatical year could be placed no other way to meet the requirements of the prophecy. 1st Sabb 7th Sabb 1st Sabb 62nd Sab 69th Sab 445 B.C. 444 B.C. A.D. 32 A.D. 33 A.D. 34 Nisan issuance of Decree to rebuild Nisan Yeshua's Death And Resurrection One year later would violate the "after" clause. One year before would reduce the number of Sabbatic years or periods

  29. How the Sabbaticals are Counted • According to the inclusive principle of counting in Hebrew the decree, which is in the first sabbatical year (or period) allows us to count that sabbatical year (or period) as the first. • Seven sevens and sixty two sevens total to make sixty nine. • The total number of years is 444 + 33 = 477. • 477/7 = 68. A tight fit allows us to add 1. 68+1=69. • This back of the envelope calculation is confirmed by actually mapping out every individual sabbatical year and period in the timeline.

  30. Why the division into seven sevens and sixty two sevens? • Ezra appears the first time at the reading of Torah at the feast of tabernacles in Nehemiah 8. • Ezra went back to Persia (as also did Nehemiah) and he returned in the 7th year of Artaxerxes II, which is the year 398/397 B.C. Ezra 7 speaks of the 2nd Artaxerxes, and this is proved by the succession of high priests. • Ezra returned with a decree prohibiting the taxation of Levites and with orders concerning the temple. • He completed dealing with the corrupted priests (mixed marriages) and restored the temple to operation by 396, which is exactly a 49 year period from 445, and contains seven sabbatical years.

  31. Seven Sabbatical Years To Restore the Levitical Service Or Exactly 49 years Ezra finishes his work 49 Years (7x7) 62 Sevens 1st Sabb 7th Sabb 49th Yr 1st Sabb 444 B.C. 402 397 396 395 Rebuilding Decree issued By Artaxerxes I Ezra goes to Jerusalem in 7th Year of Artaxerxes II

  32. The Torah Reading in Nehemiah 8 Confirms that this Was a Sabbatical Year. 8:18 Also day by day, from the first day unto the last day, he read in the book of the Torah of God. And they kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according unto the manner. (Nehemiah 8:18). And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles, 11 When all Israel is come to appear before Yahweh thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing. (Deut. 31:10-11).

  33. The Torah is Read Deut 31:10-11, Neh 8:18 Torah Reading [1] J.H. Hertz, Chief Rabbi of the British Empire, The Pentateuch and Haftorahs, 2nd ed., Soncino Press, London, 5733/1972. The Feast of Tabernacles referred to is that immediately following the conclusion of the Sabbatical year." (Deut. 31:10). 1st Sabb 445 B.C. 444 B.C. Nisan issuance of Decree to rebuild

  35. Why did Israel forget How to Explain Daniel 9? The factors of Forgetting: • Israel forgot the Sabbath • Israel forgot the Passover Sabbath • Israel forgot the sign of Jonah • Israel forgot that Yeshua rose on the Sabbath day • Israel rejected the Torah • Israel forgot God and worshipped idols • Israel replaced Sabbath with the "Sun" day. • Israel forgot to read Torah. • Israel forgot the sabbatical years. • Israel forgot the Levites and the Temple Service. • Israel hired false teachers to tickle their ears.

  36. What Israel must do is Repent and Confess its Sin to Almighty God When all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither Yahweh thy God hath driven thee, 2 And shalt return unto Yahweh thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul; 3 That then Yahweh thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither Yahweh thy God hath scattered thee. …. 6 And Yahweh thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love Yahweh thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live. …. 10 If thou shalt hearken unto the voice of Yahweh thy God, to keep his commandments. (Deut. 30:1-10).

  37. How the Rabbis Explained Daniel 9 According to Seder Olam: Rabbi Yose ben Halaphta ca. 140 A.D. 490 Years/ 70 Sabbatical Years Year 1 70th Sab 423 B.C. 422 B.C. A.D. 68 A.D. 69 Destruction of Second Temple Destruction of First Temple To accomplish this, Halaphta had to shorten the Persian period by 165 years. Back then the fraud escaped detection, but by the 10th century it was exposed, and by the 19th disproved. The correct dates of the first and second destruction of the temple are 587 B.C. and A.D. 70 respectively.

  38. The Seder Olam fraud introduced a host of additional exegetical difficulties, not the least of which is the fact that the kingdom did not materialize in A.D. 70.

  39. End: Supplemental Slides Follow

  40. Error #1: Making Messiah End The Levitical Service And he shall confirm a covenant with many for one seven: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that Determined, shall be poured upon the desolator. (Dan 9:27) Did Messiah Desolate the Temple? Did the offerings actually end? Did Yeshua make a covenant for only one seven? 1st ? 2nd ? 3rd ? 4th ? 5th ? 6th ? 7th ? A.D. 28 A.D. 29 A.D. 30 A.D. 31 A.D. 32 A.D. 33 A.D. 34 Adventists Catholics

  41. No, No, and No But 6:12 And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh Yahweh of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of Yahweh: 13 Even he shall build the temple of Yahweh; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and there shall be a Cohenbefore his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both. (Zechariah 6:12-13). 3:3 And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto Yahweh an offering in righteousness. 4 Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto Yahweh, as in the days of old, and as in former years. (Mal. 3:3-4).

  42. Error #2: Trying to Reduce the Year to 360 Days A.D. 31 A.D. 32 A.D. 33 Evangelicals • In an attempt to fit 69 x 7 years (483) years between 444 B.C. and A.D. 33, the Evangelicals (following Sir Robert Andersons, The Coming Prince, reduce the year to 360 days, to make it actually: (360*483/365 ¼ ) 476 years. • They give strong evidence that Noah used a 360 day Year. • While Noah may have used a 360 day year, it must have been astronomically correct for his time, with new moons every 30 days, but we know that the year is now 365 ¼ days, and the new moons average 29 ½ days. • Anderson's calculation was invalid because A.D. 32 does not allow either a Friday or Wednesday Crucifixion. • And the Evangelical calculation for A.D. 33 is invalid because they are forced to start the prophecy in the month of Adar instead of Nisan.

  43. Error #3: Listening to the Rabbis Claim that the prophecy is from the destruction of Solomon's Temple to The Temple in A.D. 70 490 Years??? 586 B.C. 585 B.C. A.D. 69 A.D. 70 • This is the teaching of the work called Seder Olam. • Orthodox Judaism does not use a modern scientific approach to chronology. • Orthodox Jews forbid their people to study the book of Daniel • Everlasting Righteousness did not come in A.D. 70 (Dan. 9:24). • The city was not rebuilt in 586 B.C., but destroyed. • The time between the temples is 655 Years, so that 490 years is historically impossible. • The Orthodox view was created specifically to confuse Daniel 9

  44. Error #4: Listening to other Rabbis To date the prophecy to Onias III or Antiochus Epiphanes 483 Years??? 586 B.C. 585 B.C. 171 B.C. 165 B.C. • Another common Rabbinic view for those who do accept the actual history of the Persian and Greek periods, and also many higher critics. • 483 years would end in 103 B.C., and since Messiah was to be cut off after the sixty two sevens, the calculation is invalid. • The starting point is still invalid.

  45. How the Rabbis Deceive You That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid. (Isaiah 44:28). The Rabbis deceive you by misinterpreting the Cyrus Prophecy: they claim that this refers to Cyrus the Great (539-530). • There is no record that Cyrus the Great said the city was to be rebuilt. • The Cyrus Cylinder does not mention the Jews specifically. • The Persians had a policy of returning peoples, but not all at once. • The Cyrus Edict in Ezra 1 does not say that this Cyrus is Cyrus the Great who ruled from 539-530. • Jeremiah wrote a letter to the exiled king (Jer. 29:1-10) in which they were told they must be in exile 70 years. • Ezekiel dates this 70 years according to the exile of the king. • The king was exiled in 597. • But 539 falls short of 70 years. • The Babylonian rule also falls short of 70 years: 604-539 is only 66 ½ years. • Babylon did not become an everlasting desolation. So What is the Solution?

  46. Cyrus is a Throne Name Pg. 428, Lexicon in Veteris Testamenti Libros, Koehler/Baumgartner vr<AK : n.m.; ku,roj Cyrus: elamitischer Thron-name elamitic name of reigning prince, Kuraš = Hirt shepherd. • Any Persian King can hold the title, just as any Egyptian king is called Pharaoh. • Josephus specifically calls Artaxerxes I "Cyrus"; Ant. 11.184. And this is the Cyrus that commanded the city to be rebuilt. • Isaiah calls "Cyrus" a surname (Isaiah 45:4), i.e. a family name or throne name. • Isaiah prophesies in 45:14 that Cyrus will conquer Egypt, and this was done by Cambyses only in 525 B.C., which makes him Cyrus. And he also became the Pharaoh of Egypt. • The Isaiah prophecy is time compressed and refers to Messiah also (Isaiah 45:14b-15, the true Shepherd of Israel.

  47. The 70 years exile is from 597 to 528 B.C., which brings us to the first year of Cambyses, who we know is a Cyrus meant by Isaiah since he conquered Egypt in 525 B.C. Therefore Cambyses was the Cyrus who issued the temple decree. However, when the temple was completed and shortly after services began, it was taxed into closure, and did not function properly until Ezra returned in the 7th year of Artaxerxes II (397 B.C.). This king is also "Cyrus" • The 70 years of Babylonian rule is from 604 to 539 B.C. with 3 ½ years cut off to the end of the age. At the end of days this 3 ½ years will take place, and then Babylon will become an everlasting desolation. • The two other 70 year periods in the book of Zechariah date differently. • Artaxerxes I (464-424) is Josephus' "Cyrus," and this "Cyrus" is the one who issued the decree to rebuild the city.

  48. The Foolishness of Israel is Evident • In attempting to explain that all the seventy weeks are fulfilled already, and not just the first 69, because 'everlasting righteousness' is not yet, and neither is the holy of holies annointed. Judah also committed this foolishness. • In attempting to explain that Messiah ended the sacrifices in the middle of the 70th week, when Yahweh God himself said that he would not annul his covenant with Levi until day and night passed away (Jer. 33:17-22). • In attempting to shorten a year to 360 days in order to make it fit their preconceived timing of Yeshua's death and resurrection on Friday in A.D. 33. • In attempting to place Ezra before Nehemiah and so ruining the explanation of the seven sevens. • And Judah in attempting to explain that the prophecy starts with the destruction of Jerusalem in 587 B.C. rather than the rebuilding of it, and then reducing Persian History to end it in A.D. 70 after only 490 years.

  50. The Sure Word of Prophecy God is not a like man, that He should lie, Nor like a son of man, that He himself should repent. What has He said, and will He not do it? Or what has He spoken, and will He not make it good? (Numbers 23:19). For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returns not thither, but waters the earth, and maks it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. (Isaiah 55:10-11)
