  3. INTRODUCTION The only constant feature in this world is change. While all the change may not lead to progress, there can be no progress without change. This is true for the individual, institution, organization or the country. Civilization owes its existence to change. The success or even survival of an institution or organization depends on making necessary changes.

IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION • All religions attaches great importance to knowledge and education. • When the Qur'an began to be revealed, the first word of its first verse is 'Iqra' that is, read. • A scholar (alim) is accorded great respect in the hadith. IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION • “Education is the manifestation of perfection already in man” – (Swami Vivekananda) • They are not students of our generation, where they sit down and listen. I think things have changed now; they want to explore, cut and paste.

  8. CHARACTERISTICS OF INNOVATION • RELATIVE ADVANTAGE: It is the degree to which the new idea is considered superior to the old one • COMPATIBILITY: It refers to the degree of congruence between the innovation and existing values,habits,past experience and need of the participant

  9. CONT.... • TRIALABILITY: • it is the degree to which the new idea can be pretested or tried on a limited basis • OBSERVABILITY: • It refers to how visible the innovation is to participants and onlookers

READINESS TO CHANGE • Some individuals and organizations are more ready to affect changes than others. • This depends often on the degree of felt security. • In turn, it depends on the knowledge • skill • attitude • self confidence • tolerance to stress • motivation of the individuals • It also depends on the security to change. If there is optimal feeling of security , then the acceptance of change will be possible • Change is crucial. Change is a must for progress.

  38. CAUSES FOR NOT ATTEMPTING INNOVATION Afraid of failures; of opposition; of the unknown. Lacking adequate and correct information. Reluctant to experiment. Bound by custom & tradition. Unaware of our strengths for achievement.

  39. Nursing innovation are key to improvement and progress in Health systems worldwide • We think of the effective teachers we have had over the years with a sense of recognition, but those who have touched our humanity we remember with a deep sense of gratitude

  40. TEACHER THE GREATEST INNOVATOR Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. To teach is to learn twice Teachers should guide without dictating, and participate without dominating The critical factor is not class size but rather the nature of the teaching as it affects learning. LEARNING NEVER ENDS

  41. CONCLUSION The incorporation of new technology, alone or in combination with other methods, reflects the direction of nursing education. Different types of technology are being used in today’s class rooms, laboratories, and / or clinical sites to promote more realism in the practice environment, enhance learning outcomes, and promote safe patient care environments in clinical practices. To keep up with our changing society and the technological advances in nursing practice, nurse and educators will have to be creative in develop new, innovative models of teaching.

  42. CON... Nurse educators will also need be mindful of educational research, as these new methods are incorporated into the teaching-learning process. Nursing pratice has changed dramatically during the past decade, so has the approach to nursing education. Educators need to make certain they are informed about the possibilities of new technology, its usefulness in enhancing student education, and the progress of educational research efforts conducted to guide new models of nursing education.
