  3. IN Food Security Project Funding • Received public health preparedness funding through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) • Funding is also available for public health response efforts through DHS-Office of Domestic Preparedness

  4. CDC Grant Objectives • Ensure the performance of risk and vulnerability assessments of food and water to include assessments of production, processing, and/or distribution facilities

  5. CDC Grant Objectives • In coordination with the appropriate state and local agencies responsible for food, water, and air safety, develop or ensure the capacity of the public health system to respond in a timely and appropriate manner to a food-,water-, or airborne illness or threat

  6. IN Food Security Task Force • A Food Security Task Force was created to help guide the Food Defense Specialists in accomplishing the grant objectives • Task Force meetings also provide a forum for discussion between members on current food, water, and air security issues as well as public health all-hazards preparedness
