NIH T32 Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology Fellowships • Mandated through the BPCA 2007 legislation • Provide training in pediatric clinical pharmacology • Stimulate interdisciplinary collaboration among clinical, translational, and basic researchers in pediatric therapeutics research • Enable the development of a pediatric pharmacology section within the adult clinical pharmacology department • Purpose: help ensure that a diverse and highly trained workforce is available in an area that currently has a limited number of researchers.

Children’s Mercy Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology Training Program • Fully accredited by the American Board of Clinical Pharmacology (ABCP) • Has formally trained 19 fellows since 1999 (pediatricians and clinical pharmacists, one pediatric nurse practitioner) • Training model integrates pediatric clinical pharmacology with a primary pediatric subspecialty • (e.g. Infectious Disease/Clinical Pharmacology, 4 year combined training)
