  1. 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens By: Sean Covey

  2. 1) It’s 2:00pm on a Wednesday and you are sitting in your first class, Writing 104. Your professor seems pretty nice and you think you will be fine with all the assignments on the syllabus. As the clock strikes 2:50 you are all dismissed. While walking out of class you … • Introduce yourself to the professor and say you are looking forward to his/her class. • Wait to email them the night before a big project is due asking for their help. • Walk out and keep to yourself the whole semester. • Wait a week or two until your first assignment and ask to meet outside of class for assistance in brainstorming ideas for the first project.

  3. 2) Sitting among the crowd of your peers you cant believe where the time has gone. As your name is called over the microphone, you walk up to the stage to receive your diploma; you are officially a college graduate. As you think back over the past 4 years you are proud to say you … Graduated with a Masters Degree and balanced your time between club rugby, the school newspaper, and Phi Eta Sigma Honors Program. Accepted into your favorite Fraternity and nicknamed “best party buddy”, while playing club volleyball and balancing a 3.0. Earned your Bachelor's Degree while playing URI men’s basketball for all 4 years and tutoring at the AEC Center. Have trouble remembering all the proud moments because you were too tired from partying everynight, at least you have a 2.1 right?

  4. 3) Midterm week is ahead and Monday is your first exam at 10 am. It is a Saturday night and some of your girlfriends are going out to dinner and a movie after. You really want to join them but are far from prepared for your test. While your friends continue to beg you to come you finally decide … To go out with your friends, you don’t want to miss out on all the fun and you can study all day Sunday. Stay in by yourself and go to the library to focus. Go to the study lounge with another friend who wants to stay in; order some pizza and study together. Study for a half an hour and then meet your friends after dinner.

  5. 4) It’s midnight on a Thursday and you are on your way back from the library. You’re exhausted and can’t wait to get a shower and crawl into bed. As you approach your door you hear your roommate in the room laughing and realize it’s her and her boyfriend. Great you think; first she “borrows” your favorite skirt, then she uses all your printer ink, and now this?! You … Barge in the room and freak out telling her how bad of a roommate she is. Walk away and crash in another friends room. Knock quietly while opening the door and go to bed; you’ll approach her in the morning. Walk in and go right to sleep while ignoring her; revenge is sweet.

  6. 5) While walking out of class, you hear your phone ringing and see it is one of your best friends from home. You answer and notice she sounds upset. Apparently she feels you two haven't talked in a while and is worried you are forgetting about her. You reply with … Don’t be ridiculous, we’re still friends! Don’t worry! Ignore her and say you are too busy to talk. Listen and try to understand while offering some ways to better communicate; perhaps email, weekly phone calls, or Skype dates? Say your sorry and switch topics quickly.

  7. 6) You realize there is a lot of material in your Cmd 160 course. The first test will be here before you know it. You aren’t sure the best way to study so you … Start making flashcards after every class and review them every few nights. Wait until the last 3 days before the test and cram. Study your own flashcards and then review one last time with a study group. Just meet with some friends and review the material altogether.

  8. 7) It has been a long week and you are finally finished your last class on Friday. You had 2 tests, a presentation, and 4 straight days of volleyball practice this week. One of your friends mentions going out tonight. You have work early Saturday morning and you want to get some rest. You decide to stay in and relax with another friend instead to refresh after a long week of hard work. True False
