  3. School Policies • arrival 7:55/leave campus 2:39 • playground and equipment are reserved for Meadow Park students from 7:55-3:00, other children are not permitted on the playground • tardy students – sign-in • volunteers sign in at the front office, and wear a badge while on campus • parents may not bring late assignments • late instruments and lunches can be left in the front office • Birthday Treats – no food, treats, goodies, pencils, etc., can be brought this year. (Book Donation)

  4. Free and Reduced Lunch Program • The school receives a significant amount of funding for completion of these forms.  This funding is used to support the academic program at Meadow Park.  As general funding declines, Title I monies are becoming our only source of funding for important academic services. • Even if a family is unsure about their ability to qualify, they should apply.  Nutrition Services will review their application and determine eligibility.  Many parents think that they do not qualify when, if fact, they do meet the requirements. • Please apply even if your child/children will not receive school lunch every day.  • Kindergarten families may also apply. • Every year, a new form needs to be submitted.  There is no carryover.

  5. PBIS … Positive Behavior Interventions and Support is a school-wide positive behavior system that focuses on defined behavior expectations and positive reinforcement for all students.

  8. Minor and Major Behavior Reports are issued to students who demonstrate problem behaviors as a way to reinforce the school-wide expected behaviors (R.O.P.E.S.) Minor and Major Behavior Reports

Curriculum • Please visit the California Department of Education’s website for specific information on 5th grade state standards: http://www.cde.ca.gov/be/st/ Highlights: -US History -Narrative, Persuasive, Response to Lit -Life, Physical, Earth Science -Volume, Integers, Decimals, Variables -Physical Fitness Testing

Homework • Nightly: • Math • One additional assignment • 30 minutes of reading (25 minutes in Sept. / Facts) • Weekly: • Weekly Reading Activity • Personal Word Quiz (PWQ) • Student’s responsibility: • Understand all assignments before leaving school • Write in planner daily (website is backup only) • Bring home all materials necessary to complete the assignments (textbooks online) • Homework due at 8:10 a.m. • Thursday Folder for any missing homework or green mustangs for complete homework sent home weekly.

  12. Learning Resources • Math Journal- Each student will have a spiral notebook designated to take daily notes. This notebook should be used for reference on homework and in preparation for assessments. • Reading Journal-Each student will have a spiral notebook designated to take daily notes. This notebook should be used for reference on homework and in preparation for assessments. • Grammar Journal- Students will take weekly notes in a spiral notebook. These notes should be used for Grammar homework and to prepare for assessments. • Study Guides- Students will complete a study guide for all Unit/Chapter Tests (not quizzes). • Science Notes- Completed weekly in class and kept in binder. • Homework - When completed homework is sent home I encourage the students to keep it in a separate folder to use as a resources. Especially to review any missed problems for science, grammar, and math (homework quizzes in math).

Class Websites Used by grade 4-6th. Provides tidbits on events and/or school news.  Meadow Park News Issued periodically throughout the year. Contains more detailed information about our school programs. This is the preferred method of communication with staff.  Digital Citizenship Digital Citizenship will be discussed with students during their first visit(s) to the computer lab.
