  8. CHANGES DURING THE YEAR C11 in MBS East has been converted to a new Group Study Room that can be booked via D20. Note that students will have to leave their student card with D20 for the duration of the booking. The room is available 10.00 am – 4.00 pm The Learning Commons has more rooms

  9. REMINDERS FOR YOUR FINAL YEAR REGISTRATION Deadline for Academic & Financial Registration is 30 September 2013 A £50 late fee will be applied after this date This rises to £200 if registration is not completed by 31 October 2013

  10. REMINDERS FOR YOUR FINAL YEAR • Your Academic Advisor – Re-establish contact with your Academic Advisor – academic guidance, references etc Forgotten the name of your Academic Advisor? Log into the Student System via My Manchester then click on Student Centre.  Your Academic Advisor’s / Personal Tutor’s name should be under the ‘Advisor’ heading. You can also email them by clicking on their name Academic Staff will have ‘Office Hours’ This is a designated time that they are free to meet with students

  11. REMINDERS FOR YOUR FINAL YEAR For IM and IMABS programmes, the weightings are: • Year 1: Zero • Year 2: 25% • Year 3 Zero • Year 4: 75% The third year (abroad) is graded pass/fail and is not included in the final degree classification

REMINDERS FOR YOUR FINAL YEAR • Course choices - Make sure you have your quota of international options - 120 credits of which at least 60 credits must be chosen from the International courses • Prerequisite Rule • Remember that students will not be allowed to take courses that they have not taken the relevant pre-requisite courses for during their second year at MBS. Courses taken on exchange cannot count as pre-requisites • Pre-requisites must be passed at 40% or more (not by a compensated fail) • Feedback – How you receive feedback on assessed and non-assessed work and feedback from students at committees. There is a section in the online handbook on feedback of assessed/non-assessed student work: https://ughandbook.portals.mbs.ac.uk/Myassessment/Feedback.aspx

REMINDERS FOR YOUR FINAL YEAR • Importance of attendance at classes and engagement with studies including preparation for lectures and interacting at seminars • Academic malpractice, plagiarism etc • Sources of support: • Academic Advisors, Course Coordinators, Programme Director, Assessment and Student Support Centre in D14 and Undergraduate Services in D20

REMINDERS FOR YOUR FINAL YEAR • Online course unit database http://courses.humanities.manchester.ac.uk/undergraduate/#mbs • Course Unit Selection Changing courses – deadline 4 October This includes semester two courses as well • Move to a timetabled seminar/workshop if you are in a holding class (SEM0 or WSP0) • Coursework Submission Penalties apply for late submission • Manchester Global Award is a new initiative for students entering second year in 2013/14 and is not available to current final year students

  15. REMINDERS FOR YOUR FINAL YEAR • Exam dates: • 13 - 24 January 2014 • 15 May – 6 June 2014 • Reading Week: 28 October 2013 - 1 November 2013

  16. REMINDERS FOR YOUR FINAL YEAR PDP – Personal Development Plan • Your PDP is an ongoing reflection of your four year degree programme at MBS • It is important to continue completing this during your final year • It can be used as the basis for your CV

  17. REMINDERS FOR YOUR FINAL YEAR • Disability Support Office (D.S.O.) Please make sure that you make contact with the Disability Support Office if necessary. The DSO is located on the 2nd floor of University Place. The DSO works with a large number of students including those with dyslexia and anxiety • Blackboard 9 - The Blackboard Learning System has been upgraded. You will be able to access all of your course details through Blackboard as well as posting any queries that you may have to fellow students or lecturers. Make sure you access your Blackboard site regularly for any course announcements

REMINDERS FOR YOUR FINAL YEAR • E-bulletin - The e-Bulletin will serve as our way of communicating relevant and important information to you and through it MBS responds to any feedback received from you. Please make sure that you read this fortnightly publication which will be sent to you via your university email address • MBS Social Event – watch out for details of this upcoming event on the e-bulletin • Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/mbsundergraduate • Twitter - Remember to follow MBS UG on Twitter at:- http://twitter.com/mbsundergrad • Careers Service - In September 2013 the Careers Service will be moving to The Atrium on the first floor of University Place. Take advantage of all they have to offer.

  19. The National Student Survey will open in January/February • Please take the time to complete this taking into account all your years at MBS - first, second, year abroad and final • You should rate your whole experience across your programmes and consider all the elements including the opportunity to experience different education systems • We are looking to improve the student experience year on year with the aim of achieving top scores • Your input into this is invaluable

  21. IMPORTANT DATESYOUR SUPPORT NEEDED MBS INTERNATIONAL FAIR Wednesday 16 October 2013 – 15.30 – 17.00 Please attend and represent the institution you studied at during your third year abroad. Promotional material has been requested from all partner schools. Final Year Students needed to come along early to help set up. Exchange students will also be attending. Snacks and drinks provided!! MBS INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY Please support International Society events and help to give the exchange students a memorable time at MBS and Manchester Thanks to Eva Schulze, President MBS INT SOC and her Team
