  1. Freedom Isn't Free The price for our freedom has been paid.

  2. Today’s Questions • What book of the bible is our verse from today? • What is freedom? • Who gave us the greatest freedom?

  3. Today’s Bible Verse • For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance--now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant. Hebrews 9:15

  4. Celebrate!!! • The flag reminds me that this week we will celebrate a very important holiday. How many of you know what holiday we will celebrate?

  5. Independence Day • That's right, the 4th of July. July 4th is also known as Independence Day. Do you know what independence means?

  6. Freedom • It means freedom, doesn't it? In our country we enjoy a lot of freedom. We are free to come to church and worship, we are free to choose what we want to be when we grow up, we are free to choose where we want to live, we are free to choose most of the things that affect our daily lives.

  7. Freedom doesn’t come Free • Now, this might come as a surprise to some of you, but did you know that freedom isn't free?

  8. Freedom to enjoy • That's right, someone had to pay the price for us to have the freedom that we enjoy. There are men and women right here in this room this morning who have helped to pay that price.

  9. They have paid the Price • Some have served in the Army, Navy, Marines, or Air Force. Many of them have fought in wars and some may have been wounded.

  10. Ultimate price • There are probably some people here this morning who had loved ones who paid the ultimate price for freedom. They gave their lives fighting for our freedom.

  11. The Greatest Freedom • Yes, we have a lot of freedom, but the greatest freedom that we have is the freedom that we have in Christ Jesus.

  12. Been set Free!!! • The Bible teaches that the penalty for sin is death, but you and I have been set free from this penalty. We have been set free because Jesus paid the penalty.

  13. Jesus paid the price for you and me • The Bible tells us that Jesus died to set us free from the penalty of sin. Instead of death, we have been given eternal life. This freedom wasn't free, Jesus paid the price.

  14. Thank you • This week as we celebrate Independence Day, let us remember to stop and thank God for those who have paid the price for our freedom.

  15. Thank you God • But even more important, let us remember to thank God for Jesus, who has set us free from the penalty for sin, because He was willing to pay the price.

  16. Review today’s Bible Verse • For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance--now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant. Hebrews 9:15

  17. Let’s Pray • Dear God, Thank you for the freedom that we enjoy in our country. We are thankful for those who paid the price for that freedom, but even more important, we thank you for the freedom we have because Jesus was willing to pay the penalty for our sin. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

  18. Review Questions • What book of the bible is our verse from today? • What is freedom? • Who gave us the greatest freedom?
