    6. 6 Cub Scouting: 80 Years Old Cub Scouts established in 1930 (prepare boys for Boy Scouts) Currently 2,000,000 Cub Scouts in U.S. Approximately 500,000 leaders

    7. 7 Cub Scouting … Is for Boys Each boy is different Is for Families Provide opportunities for families to work and play together Is Fun While learning, discovering, developing, etc. Has Ideals Spiritual & character growth, personal fitness, etc. Provides Adventure Outdoor, nature, field trips, camping, hiking, skiiing, etc.

    17. 17 Parental Involvement Parents / Guardian highly encouraged to participate with your son (“Adult Partner”) Adult Partner REQUIRED at all activities during Tiger Cub year Work with son on achievements at home – track progress using Scout Tracks Parents often asked to help organize one den meeting or activity, or serve in Pack Leadership Committee

    18. 18 Pack 813 Activities Den meetings & outings: 2-3 per month (typically) About an hour, either on weeknight or weekend Pack meetings – once per month usually 1st Wednesday of the month (Sept-June) Special Events and Camping Fall family campout, Spring camp weekend Winter : Klondike Derby, Skiing trip Summer Few if any den meetings Day camp (June) – optional Pool party (July) 3-day camp (July or August) – optional

    19. 19 Cost $40 / year Pack membership includes national membership (insurance, Boys Life) Includes Pack 813 membership (awards, handbooks, pinewood derby cars, dinners, etc.) Annual renew is in March Nominal den dues may be collected (varies from den to den) Uniform (approx. $40 new) Major activities cost extra (camps, skiing, etc.) Participate in annual popcorn sale

Fund Raisers Annual Popcorn Sale (mandatory) Builds confidence, salesmanship skills, promotes scouting to public Boys earn prizes, Pack and local council retain about 2/3 of gross Minimum effort: $125/scout ($60 for Tiger Cub level) Wreath Sales (optional) Boys retain 90% of profit on wreaths Profit applied toward camps or scout store 20
