  3. Setting up a new Document Type for Image Indexing • Create a new directory • Grant the SQL service account READ permissions to the new directory • Grant users that will view files Read permissions • Grant users that will save files Write, Modify, Delete permissions

  4. Setting up a new Document Type for Image Indexing MPTS User Security – controls access to MPTS programs and permissions within SQL databases

  5. Setting up a new Document Type for Image Indexing MPTS User Security – controls access to MPTS programs and permissions within SQL databases Windows User Security – controls access to files on the server drives

  6. Setting up a new Document Type for Image Indexing MPTS User Security – controls access to MPTS programs and permissions within SQL databases Windows User Security – controls access to files on the server drives So… Even though an MPTS user has access to the image viewer, they may not have permissions to the individual image directories.

  7. Setting up a new Document Type for Image Indexing MPTS User Security – controls access to MPTS programs and permissions within SQL databases Windows User Security – controls access to files on the server drives So… Even though an MPTS user has access to the image viewer, they may not have permissions to the individual image directories. This allows administrators to control access to images – by individual user if desired. For example, allow all Assessor users Read access to all Assessor image directories but allow Tax Collector users Read access to just the “Maps” directory.

  8. Setting up a new Document Type for Image Indexing • Create a new directory • Grant the SQL service account READ permissions to the new directory • Grant users that will view files Read permissions • Grant users that will save files Write, Modify, Delete permissions • Create the document type using MSW0327.EXE

  10. Setting up a new Document Type for Image Indexing • Create a new directory • Grant the SQL service account READ permissions to the new directory • Grant users that will view files Read permissions • Grant users that will save files Write, Modify, Delete permissions • Create the document type using MSW0327.EXE • Define document type specifics in the ??W1500.EXE program (dept specific)

  12. Setting up a new Document Type for Image Indexing • Create a new directory • Grant the SQL service account READ permissions to the new directory • Grant users that will view files Read permissions • Grant users that will save files Write, Modify, Delete permissions • Create the document type using MSW0327.EXE • Define document type specifics in the ??W1500.EXE program (dept specific) • Use a standard naming convention for files that matches the filemask

  14. Setting up a new Document Type for Image Indexing The filemask selected is critical for accurate searching of images. The best option is to format all filenames for a given document type exactly the same. If you need to switch formats define an additional document type and save the files to a separate directory.

  15. Setting up a new Document Type for Image Indexing The filemask selected is critical for accurate searching of images. The best option is to format all filenames for a given document type exactly the same. If you need to switch formats define an additional document type and save the files to a separate directory. Understanding the asterisk (*) and the question mark (?) in filemasks: Search criteria of “001011” and a filemask of AAA*AAA* will match: 001011… or 001-011… or 001025011… or 001-025-011… Search criteria of “001011” and a filemask of AAA?AAA* will match: 001-011… (but not 001011…) Search criteria of “001011” and a filemask of AAAAAA* will match: 001011… (but not 001-011…)

  16. Setting up a new Document Type for Image Indexing Asterisks in a filemasks give you flexibility, but you must enter a longer search criteria: Search criteria of “001011020000” and a filemask of AAA*AAA*AAA*AAA* will match: 001011020000… or 001-011-020-000 … Search criteria of “001011020” and a filemask of AAA*AAA*AAA*AAA* will match:001011020001… or 001-011-020-001… or 001-011-020-003… or 001-011-003-020 Search criteria of “001011” and a filemask of AAA*AAA*AAA*AAA* will match: 001011020001… or 001-011-020-001… or 001-032-011-010… or 001-035-130-011…
