  1. The EDM Nation Basslines and raves and stuff.

  2. What is EDM? • EDM (Electronic dance music) is a subsection of music created using mainly computer software, drum machines, synthesizers, etc. It is made up of a few hundred subgenres. I.e. -Techno -Chillstep-House -Electro -Trance -Moombahton-Dubstepand that’s literally just to name a few.

  3. Commonly asked questions by people who aren’t fans… • Why does all techno sound the same?Honestly, I promise you it doesn’t. If you actually listen to it outside of some strip club scene in the straight to dvd movie you watched you would realize every artist has their own style of mixing. It’s not all that uhntissuhntiss stuff. • Is it true that fans of EDM do a lot of drugs?Yeah, but so do people who listen to rap, polish folk music, fried chicken commercials… it doesn’t matter. There are druggies in every social setting. A hefty amount of the artists actually preach no or safe drug use (I.e. • What’s with the lights?Strobe lights are just part of the culture. There’s no real reason for them being there but they make shows a lot more comfortable. It also gives the people too far away from the stage some visual appeal. People are pretty hard to please…

  4. Who makes up the EDM nation in today’s scene? • Four favorite mainstreamers:Joel Zimmerman (Deadmau5) Thomas Pentz (Diplo) Lorin Ashton (Bassnectar) Christopher Mercer (Rusko)

  5. Progressive house • My favorite subgenre of electronic dance music. As a (self proclaimed) writer who uses his (also self proclaimed) skills as time to relax and unwind from his stresses of the week, progressive house has really aided me during my writing time. Because it puts me in a thinking mood. Just me, my thoughts and a beat slowly building to get that thought train going. It’s perfect for people who just need a couple minutes to themselves to get lost in their own minds. My absolute favorite progressive house song of all time can be found in the link below.Deadmau5 – Strobehttp://soundcloud.com/user2727940/deadmau5-strobe
