  6. A typical school day • Buses arrive between 6:45-7:00 AM • Students may enter the building at 7:00 AM • Breakfast • Hallway  Time Block 1 Class • First bell: 7:15 AM • Class begins: 7:20 AM • *Time Block 1 is the student’s homeroom class • Lunch is after Time Block 3 • Classes end at 1:20 PM

  7. 6th grade schedule • Language Arts (Advanced / Standard) • Math 1 (Advanced / Standard) • Science (Advanced / Standard) • World History (Advanced / Standard) • Reading (Standard / Intensive) • Band, Chorus, PE, Digital Arts

  8. Exceptional Education Services • For students with an active IEP (Individualized Education Plan): • Intensive reading and math classes • Learning Strategies to help with studying, organization, and homework • “Inclusion” classes where an ESE teacher and/or ESE Paraprofessionalis in the general education classroom with the general education teacher • Accommodations per the IEP

  9. Gifted Students • Students with an active EP (Education Plan) receive services through a Gifted Enrichment Class

  10. Accelerated and Advanced Criteria • Mid-Level 3 on state assessments in Reading, Math and Science from the previous year. • Grade average for the course(s) requesting acceleration or advanced placement is 85% or higher for the previous year. • 90% attendance rate for the previous year. • The student will be ranked with all other eligible students and placed based on the number of available seats. • FCAT counts once, class grade counts three times

  22. How to check grades online • Username: the Florida student ID number (the “57” number) • Password: students 2-digit month and 2-digit day of his/her birthday • Grades are updated on a regular basis

Dress Code Highlights • Shirts and shorts/skirts/pants must be appropriate in coverage, as measured by a 3 x 5 index card. • 3 ” on the sleeve and no more than 5 ” above the knee • Must be met without additions (for example, leggings underneath a skirt or a jacket over an inappropriate shirt) • Clothing must not be inappropriate or suggestive in style and/or message.
