Lighting Designer • Decides what kind of lights are needed, where to focus them, and when to turn them on. • The lighting crew places them and runs them during the show • Set designers may envision specific lighting but it is up to the lighting designer for lights to be hung and what specific colors are used • Aware of: • Ground plan • Location • Mood • Time of day

Vocabulary • Lighting Plot-diagram of where all lights are positioned • Cue Sheet-provides cue #, page #, description, cue line, time count, intensity • Color Scale-range of colors being used for lighting • Gel-a transparent colored material used in a lighting fixture to change the color of the light • Lighting Board-controls all lighting instruments
