There were many Spanish settlements being built in Texas because of the ___ poking around. • ___ were founded which were just religious communities. • ___ were created in order to protect the missions and the Spanish towns called ___. • On the Colorado River in Texas a man named Alonso De Leon, a Spanish guy, landed and met a Native American girl named ___ and called her and her people the ___ which means friend. • They even made a mission for them!!!!!!!!!!! • This was abandoned because __ killed the Natives and ___ killed the crops and the Natives hated Christianity and the Spanish.
