  1. Monday, August 27th 1st hour No Bellringer. Beginning today, we will read for 20 minutes every Monday. Pass out guided notes for our short story unit (can be found on our class website)

  2. 5th (first day-transfered class)Welcome to Ms. Gamble’s English I! • No Bellringer: On Mondays we will read AR for 20 minutes after the tardy bell has sounded. • Discuss syllabus • Discuss AR

  3. Monday, August 27th 6th hour only No bellringer. Take out your AR books and read silently for 20 minutes. Beginning today, we will read for 20 minutes in place of doing our bellringers. Bellringers will still be assigned Tuesday-Friday. III. Post AR assignment: Please take out a sheet of paper and write the following: • Your full name • The full title of the book you are reading • Briefly describe the plot (what’s going on in the story) • Tell me why you enjoy the book or why you don’t. Explain. • Let me know what books you’d like to see on the shelf. ATTENTION: Starting next Monday, if you borrow a book from the class library for AR reading time and you are not actually reading it, you will receive a 0/10. I am not awarding 5 points to you for taking a book off of a shelf. Having a class book & reading it: 10/10 Having a class book & not reading it: 0/10

  5. 7th hour only (only class to receive books today) Homework: Write your name in the orange book. Please read pages 3 & 4, and then read “The Most Dangerous Game” starting on pg 5. Do the activities on pages 25-27 and be prepared to take a quiz on the story.
