  2. Cases Handled • As a court of General jurisdiction that deals with specifically the army, the Russian Military Court deals with all cases both criminal and civil pertaining to Military personnel.

  3. Case Example • A military court in Russia's Leningrad Oblast sentenced a sergeant from the Kamenka military base for assaulting young enlisted military personnel. • He was given 3 years of suspended sentence.

  4. Judges and Jurors • Judges: - Appointed by the Federation council - Serve for life • Jurors: - 12 jurors - For specific serious cases (Murder, Kidnapping, Terrorism and more)

  5. The military court appeals • The military court of Russia appeals to the Supreme court of Russia.

  6. Sentencing • In the military court of Russia the sentencing depends on how bad the crime is. • The main sentence is prison or suspension from armed duty, but there is a death sentence which can happen from firing squads.
