  1. What has God got to do with our bodies? Think of as many things as you can. • To define “theology of the body” • To explain how we are connected to God through our bodies • To evaluate what our body tells us about who we are meant to be

  2. Explain what “theology of the body” means. How can the body “show love”? What other reasons do you think make the body important to Christians? Explain one. **What sort of loving reflects God’s love? Theologyof the Body – the study of what God meant our bodies to be for We know and experience God’s love through our ears, minds, hearts -bodies. We worship God through our bodies Pope John Paul IIwrote a book called “The Theology of the Body”. In it, the Pope says there is another important connection between God and our bodies. By discussing the story of Adam and Eve, the Pope discovers that our bodies are for showing love and being loved– in a way that reflects God’s own life-giving love. Jesus resurrected with a human body – so we, in our human bodies, can go to heaven. God made our bodies (through evolution). We are made in God’s image. God became a human body in Jesus: human bodies are forever “part” of God Our bodies are for showing and receiving love – in a way that reflects God’s love.

  3. Write the subtitle Draw a picture of the human body & label what different parts of your body can tell you about how God wants you to live your life **Humans can “override” what their bodies are “meant for” make submarines to live under oceans, have gay sex. Are such things going against God’s plan for us? God writes what His plan is for our life, by the way He made our bodies to be. BRAIN: I am meant to ... SENSES: I am meant to enjoy my senses by.. SPEECH: I am meant to... HANDS: I am meant to use my hands for... SEXUAL ORGANS: I am meant to ... LEGS/ UPRIGHT POSTURE: I am meant to live...

  4. God writes what His plan is for our life, by the way He made our bodies to be. I am meant to use my intelligence, to solve problems, be creative I am meant to enjoy my senses: play music, cook foods, admire beauty I am meant to use my hands for making things I am meant to communicate with others, and live in groups I am meant to walk upright, and live on dry land I am meant to be with someone of the opposite sex & be a parent

  5. Tell your partner who you would like to be in future. What would make you suitable for this? Eg chef – great sense of taste, creative ideas… God’s plan for us, is written in the way that we are made. What are YOU, specifically, made for? Name some jobs you might like to do in future. Make a list of things about your body that would make this a possibility. (you are unlikely to be a musician if you are tone deaf..) **Could we be happy if we just do whatever we decide to, ignoring what we are made for/ suitable for?

  6. Do we need to consider the way we are made in order to be happy?

  7. HW • Write a letter to a Job Centre to help you find the most suitable job. • Explain what your body is like - (strong, fast, energetic, clumsy, slow-moving etc) • Explain what your mind id like (creative, intelligent, good with words, good sense of rhythm..) • Conclude: explain what sort of job these things would make you suitable for & why.

  8. I am fearfully & wonderfully made… What do you think “fearfully” means in this context? Write a prayer to God thanking him for the wonderful way He made you – to do all sorts of things, and thus giving you a unique plan for your life...
