  1. SWIM Scholarship Program South Dakota Wyoming Idaho Montana Funded by the Institute of Museum & Library Services – Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program

Goals for the SWIM Grant • Increase the number of MLIS librarians in the four-state region • Increase the number of certificated school librarians with media specialist endorsement in the four-state region • Recruit Native Americans and Hispanics to the library profession • Encourage professional development and collaboration among librarians

Scholarship RequirementsScholarship applications are due by March 15, 2010 Scholarship requirements are: Scholarship recipients will receive: 80% of graduate school tuition and fees Travel stipends to attend required trainings, residencies, and conferences Opportunity to earn a master’s degree from an ALA accredited graduate program. • Residency within the SWIM region • Not currently pursuing a MLS graduate degree • Agree to work for two years in a public, academic, school, or special library in a SWIM state. • Must be admitted to UNT/LIS to qualify for scholarship

LIS and SWIM Application Timeline • Must be admitted to UNT Toulouse Graduate School and UNT/LIS to qualify for SWIM Scholarship • Six to Eight weeks for the UNT/LIS Application Process to be completed • Apply for admission to MLS program no later than February 1, 2010 • SWIM Scholarship deadline is : March 15, 2010 • Scholarships will be awarded April 30, 2010
