  1. What Is An Outstanding Achievement Of The Chipko Movement? The Chipko Movement The Chipko Andolan or Chipko Movement is a non-violent resistance movement aiming to protect forests and trees in India. The movement started in the 1970s when govt increased the exploitation of natural and forest resources for commerce and Industrial activity. And it started threatening the livelihood of ordinary people in villages. Villagers started this movement by taking expression from Mahatma Gandhi's satyagraha or non-violent resistance movement. throughout the country like a fire. Now it's an organized campaign led by the ordinary people of this country. This article will discuss Chipko Andolan, its success, and its impact on society. Soon this movement spread Women Lead the Andolan The movement got its name from the nature or technique used by protestors. They used to protect the tree by hugging it from the loggers. The unique feature of this protest is that this movement was led mainly by women from the village and sub-urban areas whose lives heavily relied on these forests. Chipko Andolankari often uses local songs

It shows the society and govt the power of the women and common people. while staying local and organized Leader Emerged from It As the Chipko movement grew, some impactful leaders emerged from their rank and brought their motives in front of the country. Sunderlal Bahuguna (1927-2022) is one of them. His work during the Chipko movement deeply impacted India's environmental policies, Whether it was a matter of conservation of forests or another Himalayan region. Govt Role From ancient times the Indian forests have been an integral part of our lives, Saving the Livelihood of the People Living in the forest, and maybe our tradition gave so much importance to the trees and forests. In Indian culture, from the birth of a child to death, we rely on trees and forests. Under the British Raj, some laws were introduced - known as the Indian Forests Act of 1878 to 1927. It gave govt to manage all the natural resources of the country. These laws permitted the state to govern specific areas, negatively affecting the communities traditionally relying on the forest. This law remains still after the independence of the country. Chipko Movement Impact Now let's again move to our topic. As the protest paced up, the pressure on the government started increasing to adopt policies more sensibly and take care of people's needs and environmental factors. In northern India, Chiko Andoaln achieved a significant milestone in 1980 when govt put a 15-year ban on the green felling of the Himalayan forest enacted by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Similar trends followed in other parts of the country too. Chiko Andolan Influence The Chipko Andolan was the first big Andolan of the country after the independence, and it shows how we can keep Gandhi's legacy of non-violent resistance alive. We can see the impact of Chipko Andolan till now.
