  1. The Chronicles of Vladimir Todby Heather Brewer An Independent Study By: Erica Levesque

  2. Character DescriptionsChronicles of Vladimir Tod: Tenth Grade Bleeds Name: Henry McMillan Age: 15 Info: Henry is a normal human being, he’s class president, ladies man and all around popular. He has short brown hair and eyes. Henry is physically fit and of normal height for his age, also he is talented at video games and loves horror movies. He can be slightly immature at times but he’s loyal and gets his job done (even though his school work could improve). He lives with his mother, father and older brother, sounds like your average teenager right? Wrong. Henrys one abnormal characteristic is that he is the best friend and drudge (human servant) of a half vampire. Thus throwing him, rather reluctantly at times, into dangerous situations where his and his friends lives’ are at stake. But hey, what are friends for right?

  3. Character Descriptions Chronicles of Vladimir Tod: Tenth Grade Bleeds Name: Otis Otis Age: (over 100 years) Info: Otis is the typical woman’s dream, tall…dark…handsome...with brains and charm to spare. A man to die for right? Well if you meet this lady-killer in a dark alleyway at night that just might hold true. You see Otis is an English Teacher (ha-ha) not scared? Maybe I should mention that he’s also a vampire. ;) Otis first appeared in the series in the first book (eighth grade bites) as a substitute English teacher, he wears a purple top hat and matching suit. At first it appears that he’s a bad guy but it turns out that he’s only looking for his brother, Vlads father Tomas Tod. Which makes this quirky creature of the night Vladimir's Uncle and ,later in the series, teacher in all that is vampiric. He’s strict but fair and makes his lessons interesting. For example in the first lesson he told the class that they could call him by either his last name or his first as long as they put the customary “Mr.” in front of it, and he dressed up as a different creature from mythology every day as a visual aid. Also he’s an expert at double crossing his enemies, this trick has saved Vlad, Henry, and Nelly a few times, but he’s not only sly; he’s fiercely loyal and protective of his family and friends. But all his good qualities cannot change what he is, while he stays with Vlad and his Aunt Nelly Otis tries to restrain from feeding on humans but as soon as he leaves that’s a different matter.

  4. Character DescriptionsChronicles of Vladimir Tod: Tenth Grade Bleeds Name: Vladimir Tod Age: 15 Info: Vladimir Tod lives with his Aunt Nelly in a small town called Bathory, he isn’t what you’d call normal. For one he found his parents burned to death in their bedroom when he was 5. Only their room had been burned, which is in itself strange. That’s how he came to live with his Aunt Nelly who was a friend of his mother. Vlad is bullied every day by two boys called Tom and Bill, his only friend is Henry McMillan, and he’s just an average student. He’s got low self esteem and low confidence in talking to girls. People think he’s a geek and he doesn’t fit in with anyone. He has a fondness of old vampire movies, video games and horror movies. He also has the habit of visiting the old Belfry at the high school late at night…which is sealed off and the only way in or out is through the windows…which are 3 stories off the ground. He also likes to hang around at the mall with Henry poking through the minds of random girls, how? Well…being a half vampire has it’s perks…except when everyone who has a thirst for blood like you are trying to kill you in various, sometimes rather medieval torture chamber ways. Aside from that being the only half vampire in existence is kinda lonely. Vlad has shaggy black hair and dark eyes, he’s skinny and pale skinned, of normal height for a 15 year old boy.

  5. The Chronicles of Vladimir TodCharacter Map Joss McMillan Meredith Brookstone Vampire slayer and ex friend. Vlads girlfriend. Vikas Vlads Teacher in vampiric ways and friend. D’Ablo Vladimir Tod Ex-friend of Vlads father, main bad guy, tries to kill Vlad. Aunt Nelly Otis Otis Henry McMillan Vlads guardian, friend of his mother. Vlads Uncle, brother to Vlad’s father. 6. The Chronicles of Vladimir TodThe Movie . If I were to direct a movie of this novel I’d have to choose Alex Evans as Vlad because he looks the part, and is around to play the right age to play our teenage half vampire.

  7. The Chronicles of Vladimir TodThe Movie As Henry McMillan I’d have: I picked Bret Loehr because he looks like I how pictured Henry looking, and he is also around the right age to be playing a high school boy.

  8. The Chronicles of Vladimir TodThe Movie I’d have Sally Field play Vlads Aunt Nelly, because she has a rather motherish look to her. And she’s around the right age.

  9. The Chronicles of Vladimir TodThe Movie To play Otis I would have to pick Johnny Depp because he looks how I picture Otis, and since Otis has one of the best sense of humor Johnny

  10. The Chronicles of Vladimir TodThe Movie As Vlad’s girlfriend Meredith Brookstone I’d have Kristen Herrera because she already looks the part of Meredith with her brown hair and eyes.

  11. The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod(Writing Style) http://www.wordle.net/show/wrdl/3731462/Chronicles_of_Vladimir_tod Heather Brewer uses a writing style that makes reading easy for teens to understand, unlike the classic novels that the schools make us read with complicated words and rambling sentences that take up 3 pages to describe someone's house or how they act. John swung his arms behind him to knock the man down, but his hands were caught effortlessly in the air and bound behind him. A hand, gloved in shiny black leather, entered his field of vision, clutching a torn page from the Bathory Gazette. John’s head jerked back as the man gave his hair a violent tug and growled, "Where is he?" At the center of the paper was the grainy image of a thirteen-year-old boy John knew well. The boy was surrounded by several of his peers and a teacher, but looked nervous, awkward. At the bottom of the photo, it read, "Left to right: Kelly Anbrock, Carrie Anderson, Henry McMillan, Jonathan Craig, Vladimir Tod, Edgar Poe, Mike Brennan." At the top was a bold title: Debate Team Sure to Win at Regionals! Tears coated John’s cheeks and he shook his head, refusing to answer. Something warm and slick ran down John’s forehead. Through red tinted glass, he looked at the forest around them. He screamed for help until his lungs burned, but help wouldn’t come. "Where’s the boy? Where’s Vlad?" John wriggled. The man’s face was near his. Cold breath beat down on the back of his neck and something sharp grazed against his skin. "Tell me or die.“ John opened his mouth to speak, but it was too late for lies. The man bit down. Fangs popped through John’s skin, cutting deep into his neck.

  12. The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod(Plot) The plot of the book is based around the life of teenager Vladimir Tod, the book Tenth Grade Bleeds begins during the summer when his uncle Otis is leaving for Siberia to search for a Ritual that is said to be able to kill the Pravus (Vladimir). To explain what a Pravus is, is simple. The Pravus is a boy born to human and vampire prophesized to enslave the human race and rule over the vampires. Now that the vampire world knows about Vlad the president of the Stokerton council, D’Ablo, (who wants Vlad dead) is looking for the Ritual to kill Vlad and make himself the Pravus. Otis is going to try to beat him to it but once he leaves he disappears and even Vlad’s super strong (even for a vampire) telepathic powers can’t seem to help him get in contact with his uncle. A few weeks after Otis leaves D’Ablo comes to Vlad’s room and asks him for his fathers journal, as a keepsake since they’d been friends. Vlad denies him the journal and D’Ablo threatens to kill him but doesn’t and leaves saying ominously “Sweet dreams”. It’s after that, that Vlad starts having nightmares of being tortured, during this time he’s being hunted by a vampire named Ignatius, who is the vampire that made Vlad’s father and uncle into vampires. Thus making him Vlad’s grandfather. In the end we come to find out that the nightmares are Otis trying to ask Vlad for help because he was captured by D’Ablo and was being tortured but his telepathy was being blocked. D’Ablo gets the ritual and performs it on Vlad, but we don’t find out more about that until the next book. Ignatius gets killed by Vlad and they manage to escape.

  13. The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod(Conflicts) The conflicts in this novel usually center around Vladimir being a half vampire, due to the fact that he is the only one in existence and there’s a prophecy about a half vampire ruling over the vampire race and enslaving the humans the vampire council isn’t happy about his existence. Since his father is dead, Vlad is being held responsible for his crimes of stealing the Lucis (a very powerful vampiric weapon), and fleeing the vampire society for the love of a human which is strictly forbidden. To show their displeasure they send his own grandfather to torture him and bring him back to the council so they can kill him. These conflicts could have been resolved by less violent and bloody means it the Vampire Council simply let Tomas’ law breaking go once they found out that he was dead, and leave Vlad alone to live in peace.

  14. The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod(theme) I think the title fits the novel greatly because the story is chronicling the life of the main character, Vladimir Tod.

  15. The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod(News Report) This is Erica Levesque reporting live, it appears that there has been a few cases of a dark clad man described as tall, well built and around 30 stalking teenagers in the small town of Bathory. The mad was thought to be a harmless vagabond until he assaulted a local teen. Keep your eyes peeled for this man, police are asking for tips if any of you have seen him wandering around.
