  3. INTRODUCTION • Climate change is affecting almost every area of the earth • Both positively and negatively. • Drawing attention from People of all races and career backgrounds • Alexandria a coastal city is not an exception to the effect of climate change

  4. GENERAL OVERVIEW • Places visited • Lake Mariot -sewage canal Reclamed land for infrastructure and agriculture • Khafl El-Sheikh • Sand dunes • Replenishing of some wild species • Damieta(Nile Branch) • Sea rising • Loss of Biodiversity

  5. GENERAL OVERVIEW CONT… • Rash and Edco • Salinization • Loss of acquatic species • Village near Brullus • Salinization • Tough Agriculture

  6. CAUSES OF CLIMATE CHANGE ON COASTAL AREAS • Sea level rising i.e • Nile Delta subsidizing at a rate of 3-5mm/yr • .25-meter rise would put 60% of Alex popn of 4million blow sea level • A rise of .5meter would b more disastrous • Sea Acidification • Melting of ice glaciers

  7. POSSIBLE FUTURE IMPACTS • More rising of the sea Level • Complete Loss of Biodiversity • High risk of hunger • High risk to natural disasters

  8. CHALLENGES • New agricultureal practices needed • New technologies needed • Economy Decrising (imbalances) • Complete loss of biodiversity

  9. THE BIG PICTURE • People of West Alex have sanddunes helping resolving climate change • They preserved them long before they knew scientific aspects of climate change • Adopted to agriculture practices long in the 1900. • Today Agriculture is costly in these regions

  10. CONCLUSSION Knowing that human activities are a major contributing factor to the climate change,I believe that it is also through Humans that we can influence positive impact on the Global climate change.
