  3. Purpose of Meeting Provide an update on the road program Define the scope of the proposed work Review the Construction Schedule, Proposed Sequencing, & Maintenance of Traffic Plan Answer general questions Opportunity to review work near your home on a one on one basis

  4. Update • Year 9 of the City approved 10 year Road Improvement Program • Vaughn Road and S. Cranbrook Road were selected for this round of improvements • New Water Main • Select Drainage Improvements

  6. General Construction Issues We aim to minimize: The disruption and inconvenience of construction Increased truck traffic

  7. General Construction Issues We suggest: • Following the proposed detours • Avoid driving through the construction areas (Local Traffic Acceptable) • HRC Field Representative will be available

Proposed Schedule • Consumers Energy Gas Main Improvements • Not part of City project • Underground (water main, edge drain, storm sewer) • Vaughn Road: March 2015 – April 2015 • Cranbrook Road: July 2015 – August 2015 • Roadwork (to follow underground) • Vaughn Road: May 2015 – June 2015 • Cranbrook Road: August 2015 – September 2015 • Notifications (events, contractors, etc.)

  13. Water Service Schedule Watermain shut down will typically occur for approximately 4 hours Boiled water advisories may be required Appropriate notification will be distributed

  14. Maintaining Traffic • Roads Closed to Thru Traffic • Local traffic only • One-way traffic only • Limited Trips = Increase in Contractor Productivity • Reduces duration of inconvenience

Improvements to Vaughn Road • Roadway will be reconstructed • New water main installation • Culvert crossing improvements • Drainage improvements • Ditch enclosure pipe and edge drain • Catch basin relocation and/or grading • Consistent 22’ road width • 1’- 2’ shoulders • Approximately 6,220 feet

  18. Improvements to S. Cranbrook Road • Roadway will be reconstructed • New water main installation • Drainage improvements • Ditch enclosure pipe and edge drain • Catch basin relocation and/or grading • Consistent 22’ road width • 1’- 2’ shoulders • Approximately 2,900 feet

  22. Drainage Improvements • Intent is to preserve and protect the road • Will be installed in select locations • Looking for input from residents

  23. Drainage Improvements S. Cranbrook Road - Christ Church of Cranbrook Vaughn Road - southwest towards Lahser Road

City Right-of-Way Management • Utility Installations • Intent of right-of-way is to provide and maintain public infrastructure • Vehicle Safety • Recovery Zone (Clear Zone/Crash Zone) • Lateral Offsets • Recommended 4’ to 5’ lateral offset free from obstructions for low volume low speed roads

City Right-of-Way Management • Trees within City ROW may be impacted • In-line with utility improvements • Overhanging roadway • Aesthetic improvements within City ROW • Intent is “Not To Disturb” • Will be placed back to the best of the Contractor’s ability • Examples (Brick paver drives, planting beds, stone mailboxes) • Will be placed back to meet minimum City requirements • Examples (Guardrails, Concrete drives)
