Swimmer Requirements --Novice Training Group (ages 6-12) • Be able to swim a 50 on front and back, < 1 min • Have knowledge of all 4 competitive strokes • Attend 2 practices per week – • Age Group (ages 9-12) • 3 “B” Times for 10 year olds, posted at USA swimming • Be legal in all 4 competitive strokes • Attend 3 practices per week • Senior Group (13+) • Be legal in all 4 competitive strokes • 3+ 13 year old “B” times at USA swimming • Attend 4 practices a week • Moving Training Groups

  4. Team Communications • Emails/Coordinator • Come from Ann Dickey (adickey1@comcast.net) • Expect weekly emails during the season • Website • Password protected, once fully registered, you will receive login information • www.teamunify.com/mnss • Invitations to attend home and away meets from Team Unify – RSVP/register on line

Fall/Winter Season • Regular season runs September 22– Feb 8 • Meets –3 plus Championship Season • Championship Season • Sectionals last weekend of January, date/location TBD • State on February 8 at the U of M • Regional Meet March 21-22 at the U of M • $75 fee to train and compete • Must have 1+ regional qualifying time • Practice times will be altered based on participation

  6. Meets and Expectations • Calendar/Email Updates - RSVP • Who competes? • Event Selection/Relays • Home: 11/8, 12/20, 1/10 • Away: 10/25, 11/15, 12/13 • Worthington Meet 11/15 - Overnight

Meet Registration • Event Invitation Email • Email Subject: • [Southdale YMCA Sharks Event] – XYZ Hosts SD • Email Body: • Dear ==RECIPIENT_FIRST_NAME==, • The registration deadline for the MEET (XXXX, 2014 (10:00 AM) – XXXX (03:00 PM)) swim meet is just around the corner and we are asking that you login to declare whether or not you're going to the meet. If you are going, you will need to declare by the registration deadline, xx/xx/2014. • For more information about this event click here • The process is simple. Click the following link and once you have signed in, you will be brought to a webpage on our team website that will allow you to commit or not commit your child to the meet. If you have more than one child swimming you will see them listed on this page. • http://www.teamunify.com/EvSignup.jsp?event_id=433703&team=mnss • Here are the steps if you ARE NOT GOING: • Click on the Member Names [they default to Not Committed] • Then click on the Signup Record pull-down and select No • If No, just click on the [Save Changes] button to save the changes • If you have more than one child, repeat the same task as listed above • Here are the steps if you ARE GOING: • Click on the Signup Record pull-down and select Yes • Once yes is selected, you will see the events your child MAY be eligible to swim • You will also see the best times inserted into the Entry Time field and highlighted in yellow • Check the Checkbox to the left of the name for those events you would like to swim • Please take careful notice of the time standards that must be met in the right-side columns • Once you have finished, click on the Save Changes Button in the lower right • Repeat the process for additional swimmers • You will notice that Coach Approval column will indicate Pending after you submit • Please pay careful attention to:
- Maximum Event Entry Limitations IF PRESENT. Click on the >>View if present.
- Add any notes that you want the Coach or Administrator to see • Your coach or team administrator will review your declaration and APPROVE or REJECT your request and once they submit the final choices you will be able to review by signing in and clicking on the Attend This Event button for any events listed on our team website. Look at the Coach Approval column for the events that you have been confirmed to swim. • Thank you, • Southdale YMCA Sharks

  8. Apparel • Rah!Sports • Cap (provided by Team) must be worn in meets • Suit – not required • Fins – a great idea –color sizes!!! • Goggles – find the right fit!!!

  10. Things to think about… • Be a committed swimmer and parent volunteer • Ypartners Triathlon – December 8 • Compete in the event as individual or a team • Donate prizes to participants • Service Projects • Be a part of the Parent Volunteer Corp • Travel Meet Chair, Social Chair….
