Laws & Regulations • PURPOSE & AUTHORITY • Protection of public health and the environment • MA General Laws (MGL) • MGL Ch21A s13 authorizes MassDEP to make regulations related to onsite wastewater systems • Regulations • Title 5 (310 CMR 15.000)—Onsite Wastewater System Regulations • Title 1 (310 CMR 11.00)—Administration of Environmental code • Additional MGL • MGL Ch111 s31 authorizes local board of health (LBOH) to develop reasonable regulations MA PHIT- Wastewater Certificate Program, Session 1

  10. Discussion In pairs or threes, describe any local regulations for wastewater in your community. Discuss the purpose of the local regulation and the local conditions or reasons to exceed Title 5. Assign a reporter to share with the class. MA PHIT- Wastewater Certificate Program, Session 1
