Legal Ground for the Equal Opportunities Plan • According to Act CXXV of 2003 on equal treatment and the promotion of equal opportunities, all budget agencies employing more than fifty people and all majority state-owned legal entities are bound to accept an equal opportunities plan. In 2005 the PNPP projected its equal opportunities plan, which was accepted by the trade unions, the managerial board, as well as the employer for the period 2005-2007. The plan is under review.
Requirements Employers are bound to know and appreciate: • their employees’ social and demographic status • problems of equal opportunities • the possibilities of individual solutions • how to help underprivileged employees.
Scope of Validity • women employees • employees over forty • Roma employees • disabled employees • employees with infants
Content of the Equal Opportunities Plan The plan has to include: • the general aims and ethnic aspects of equal employment opportunities • well-defined, concrete aims, in line with actual needs • how to take effective steps when necessary • a procedure to follow should there be a violation of the equal treatment law.
