Action • Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 • The Narrative • Get the impression that it will be very lighthearted and funny and lots of action throughout the film with some disaster at the middle but will have a sad/angry ending. • Target Audience • Teens and young adults- there is lots of colors and well-known actors for the younger generation • All genders- mixture of genders in the scene • All race • Genre of the film set up in the first sequence • Action- lots of aggressive movement and fire connotes chaos. • Comedy- Baby Groot dancing. Characters • Introduced to 5 main characters. • We know that Groot is lighthearted, funny and cute from the way he is dancing. • We also get the impression that everyone else is serious and mature because they are focusing on killing the creature. • There is a freeze frame shot at the start of the scene- dramatic effect • All filmed in one shot- makes the audience feel they are apart of the scene. • Non diegetic sound of song ‘Mr. Blue Sky’ with diegetic sound of characters talking and action happening in the background. • I think that the opening scene is effective as it shows that there is going to be a lot of action and although the characters are only vaguely introduced that doesn’t matter because it is the second movie of this franchise so the audience watching are people who have most likely have seen the first film and therefore know the characters.
