  5. Important Dates • Weekly check-in during office hours is required. • Course dates: June 11, 2011 through July 19, 2012. • Final Exam: Course 3 – Crone Middle School. July 19, 2012. 8:30 a.m.. Pre-Algebra –Crone Middle School. July 19, 2011. 11 a.m. • Parent Contact: Teachers welcome conversation about the course and student progress. This can be through telephone, Blackboard Collaborate or traditional meeting. Please contact the teacher. • Due Dates: The “due dates” in the course are guideline dates to assist with pacing.

  7. Pacing • Self-discipline is a characteristic of a successful online learner. You should schedule time to study each day. Put the study time in a calendar, and work 4-6 days per week, for 90 minutes to 120 minutes. See the pacing chart for your course.

  8. Grades • Final Exam grades will be reported to parents, middle schools, and you. The grades will not appear on any transcript or official school record. Schools will use them for placement for next year, so excellent learning is expected. Grades will indicate what you have learned during the summer session.

  10. Apex Features Check reports for your progress. Check your individual information sheet for your login information. You can change your password in the My Profile section. Please enter or edit your email address in the personal information section under My Profile. The Orientation will help you navigate. Go through this section.

  11. Parent Communication Parents will receive an email update each Sunday afternoon. Contact your teacher through email when necessary. They will respond within 24hrs. (Remember they are on summer break as well.)

  14. Course Navigation • Take Section quiz. • Score 80% -- Go to next section. • Under 80% go through section. • Take Quiz again. • If under 80% review and take quiz again. • 3 quizzes under 80% work with your teacher.

  17. Math Notebook • In mathematics it is necessary to show your work. Keep a notebook with the problems you work in this course. The teachers will review the notebook at the final exam.

  18. Required Weekly Office Hours • Your teacher will have office hours shown at the link below. Weekly “attendance” during office hours is required. You can attend either session. You will be using software called Blackboard Collaborate. You will be emailed a link to this virtual classroom on June 5th. You will use this link to login to office hours.
