Background • Lack of data on healthcare providers (e.g., physicians, physician assistants, nurses, etc.) • Information about physicians, physician organization, and physician behavior particularly urgent • No regular comprehensive source of information on physician and their practices • Needed to understand health care and policy changes

  3. Highlights • Recent AHRQ solicitation • DHHS Program Support Center RFTO No. AHR6557 • 24-month Project • Technical Expert Panel • Stakeholder Meeting • Environment Scan • Strategic Options • Development and Testing of Early Prototype

  4. Key Features Early Prototype • Usefulness as stand-alone product • Ability to link to existing AHRQ Databases • MEPS • HCUP • Capacity to answer priority questions in a timely way • Opportunities for public dissemination

Very Rough Timeline • Sept. 30: Task Order awarded • Oct./Nov.: Technical Expert Panel established • Dec./Jan. 2012: Stakeholder meeting • Jan./Feb. 2012: Environmental Scan – Interim Report • Feb./Mar. 2012: Strategic Options – Interim Report • May/June 2012: Early Prototype instrument developed • April 2013: Early Prototype collection completed • Sept. 2013: Final Report
