  3. e-learning • E-learning comprises all forms of electronically supported learning and teaching. • E-learning is essentially the computer and network-enabled transfer of skills and knowledge. • Web-based learning, computer-based learning, virtual classroom opportunities and digital collaboration.

  4. History • E-learning systems assumed to be for transfering knowledge. • In early 1993 William D Graziadei described an online computer-delivered lecture. • Today many technologies are used in e-learning.

  5. Opportunities and Affordances • Learning is greatly enhanced when situated in authentic problem solving activities. • It confronts learners with authentic situations which are motivating. • Information & communications technologies provide us wide range of opportunities.

Contemporary Trends in e-learning • The corporate sector is interested in e-learning • e-learning will extend to customers • Simulation, gaming and interactivity will enrich e-learning • The growth of e-learning is directly related to the increasing access to information and communications technology, as well its decreasing cost.
