Surgery Wait Times Initiative: • Phase I: National Knowledge Translation Network (2006/07) • Phase II: Consensus on National Core Model of Care (2007/08) • Phase III: Synthesis of Toolkit (2008/09) • Phase IV: Implementation of Toolkit (2009/11 – pending funding) • 2. MSK Core Curriculum: • Randomized control trial has commenced. • Full content review with physicians/surgeons across Canada, fmed residents from McMaster, med students from U of T, chiropractic residents, nurses, PTs, APPs the data from these population groups will be analyzed to ensure that the technology is functioning properly. • “Proof of concept" with the U of T Fmed and Rheum residents scheduled for January and February 2010. • On-line simulation group will be compared to the paper format group. • Update to be presented at the Washington BJD Conference • 3. Osteoporosis Strategy: • - Representations made to the Federal Government in promotion of post-fracture osteoporosis care programs for all Canadians. • Provincial: Ontario Osteoporosis Strategy, 19 osteoporosis coordinators active in 35 fracture clinics across Ontario. Over 15,000 fracture patients screened for osteoporosis • Active collaboration by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, Osteoporosis Canada, and the evaluation team at St Michael’s Hospital. • Data collected started in 2007. • 5. Young Investigator Initiative: • In partnership with USBJD, we deliver two workshops per year (Chicago and Toronto) to train early career investigators. • More than one hundred young investigators have been accepted into the program covering anatomy, chiropractic, dentistry, endocrinology, kinesiology, orthopaedics, pathology, PM&R, physical therapy, occupational medicine , rheumatology. • 30+ participants have obtained >$16.5MM in research grants. • Future Development: • - We will keep the same priorities to the end of the Decade.
