  2. Sono le + (hour) = It is ….o’clock. (Use with (plural #’s) 2-12) Ex: Sono le due. = It is 2:00 Ex: Sono le sei. = It is 6:00 Come diciamo l’orario in Italiano? How do we tell time in Italian? I. To tell the time on the hour: use a form of “ESSERE” = to be + hour

  3. To express 1:00: E` l’una. = It is 1:00 To express noon: 12pm E’ mezzogiorno. To express midnight: 12am E’ mezzanotte. *E’ is used with sing. #’s/expressions = it is…o’clock

  6. E` mezzanotte. (Sono le dodici.) Che ore sono?

  8. II. To express min. after the hour (1-30) we say: “Sono le + hr. + e + min.” Ex: Sono le sette e dieci. = 7:10 Ex: E’ l’una e venticinque. = 1:25 Ex: Sono le tre e dodici. = 3:12

  14. III. For times before the hr. (min. 31-60) we go to the next hr. and subtract the min. remaining from 60: “Sono le + next hr. + meno + min. remaining” Ex: Sono le tre meno dieci. = 2:50 Ex: Sono le sei meno venticinque. = 5:35

  31. A che ora……? At what time……. • To express “at” a certain time, use “alle” before the time (for #’s 2-12) ex: at 9:00 = alle nove ex: at 5:30 = alle cinque e mezzo ex: at 7:45 = alle otto meno un quarto ex: at 3:10 pm = alle tre e dieci del pomeriggio • To express “at 1:00” use “all’una”
