Keys to Effective Partnerships Both formal and informal partnerships • Clearly articulated goals • Mutual and clearly defined benefits – financial, programmatic, social • Complimentary strengths • Mutual trust - transparency, honesty • Structure fair to both sides • Realistic expectations Accept that they may not last forever Regional Symposium on Women & ITC

  4. 6% of M.E. Women use Internet US 52%, Asia 22%, 38% Latin America • Need to understand why. If you do not, then your solutions will not work. Are women: • under-educated (formal and informal)? • being socially blocked? • otherwise being neglected? Answers define what needs to be done with whom women need to partner Regional Symposium on Women & ITC

Partnering Opportunities Develop and exploit with: • Government– MCIT & other Ministries/Organizations • Donors – USAID, CIDA, EU, Japanese, Korean • NGOs – ICT and those focused on other things • Educational – Universities, 2ndry schools, training institutes • Foundations • Businesses – Private & Government, ICT and non-ICT Women-centric & Non-Women-centric Regional Symposium on Women & ITC

  6. Partnership Success Understand and define clearly: • What you want – what hurdles do you want to address, what outcomes do you seek? • Benefits – what do you seek; what do you bring? Applying these two concepts leads to better partnerships Regional Symposium on Women & ITC
