Nefertiti • Born: 1370 BC • Died: 1330 BC • Spouse: Akhenaten (Ak-en-ot-ten) • Parents: Ay • Children: Ankhesenpaaten, Meritaten • Nefertiti was the Great Royal Wife of the Egyptian Pharaoh Akhenaten. Nefertiti and her husband were known for a religious revolution, in which they worshiped one god only, Aten, or the sun disc. • No one else believed the religion. • Disappeared shortly after her husbands other wife, kiya, had began to be too much of a rival. Kiya was disgraced and then Akhenaten got one or two new co-regents and many believe that they were his son and Nefertiti in disguise. Back to Room 1

  7. Cleopatra • Born: 69 BC (Month: October) • Died: August 12, 30 BC • Cleopatra was the last pharaoh of Ancient Egypt. She was a member of the Ptolemaic dynasty, a family of Greek origin that ruled Egypt after Alexander the Great's death during the Hellenistic period. • In 48 BC, Julius Caesar arrived in Egypt. Cleopatra snuck back into the palace hidden inside a rolled up carpet. She met with Caesar and convinced him to help her win back the throne. Caesar defeated Ptolemy's army at the Battle of Nile. Ptolemy drowned in the Nile River and Cleopatra became the sole ruler of Egypt. • She fell in love with Julius Caesar and had a kid. Though she loved him, she wanted to keep Egypt free of Rome's power. She built up the economy, establishing trade with other Arab countries. • romantically involved with both Mark Anthony and Julius Caesar. • She used Antony to get better land and materials for Egypt. He had an affair with her and that made his wife mad so her brother declared war against Cleopatra and they won. Antony took his own life so Cleopatra was captured and killed herself. Back to Room 1

Hatshepsut • Regarded as Egypt’s most successful ruler. • Was one of the few women Pharaohs. • Married her half brother when her father died, making him king and her queen. • When he died, her nephew was supposed to take over but because of his age, • Hatshepsut took over the throne. • She created expeditions to Punt, where the Egyptians searched for things • they coveted, such as animals, spices, etc. • Her bitter nephew tried to take the throne and succeed after her twenty year reign. • Her name was erased from everything she ever did, and her mummy was never found. • It is belivedthtathgernewphew burned her, and her lover suten, tomb Back to Room 1

Amenhotep III • Amenhotep III was known as the Pharaoh who beautified egypt for the many structures that still stand today • When King Amenhotep’s older son died he left the throne to Amenhotep IV who would later change his name to Akhenaten • King Amenhotep III became king when he was at the early age of 12 years old Back to Room 2
