  2. What is a preposition? • A preposition is a word that relates a noun or a pronoun to some other word in a sentence • The paint on the canvas will dry slowly. • The word on is a preposition because it shows the relationship of the nouns ‘paint’ and ‘canvas’

What is a prepositional phrase? • A prepositional phrase is a group of words that begins with a preposition and ends with a noun or pronoun, which is called the object of the preposition. • Michelangelo was born in a small town. • In is the preposition and town is the object of the preposition.
