  1. I am the Resurrection

  2. I am the Resurrection

  3. "Lord, if You had been here!” • (John 11:20-25 NKJV) Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met Him, but Mary was sitting in the house. {21} Then Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. {22} "But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.”

  4. "Lord, if You had been here!” • (John 11:20-25 NKJV) {23} Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again." {24} Martha said to Him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day." {25} Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.

  5. The Gospel • . (1 Cor 15:1-4 NKJV) Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, {2} by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you; unless you believed in vain.

  6. The Gospel • . (1 Cor 15:1-4 NKJV) {3} For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, {4} and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,

  7. The Lamb of God • (John 1:29 NKJV) The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

  8. The Lamb of God • (Heb 10:4-10 NKJV) For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins. {5} Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: "Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me. {6} In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure. {7} Then I said, 'Behold, I have come; In the volume of the book it is written of Me; To do Your will, O God.'" .

  9. The Lamb of God • (Heb 10:4-10 NKJV. . . {10} By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

  10. He was Buried • Not a happy time.

  11. He was Buried • Not a happy time. • It’s a time of waiting

  12. He was Buried • Not a happy time. • It’s a time of waiting • It’s where Mary and Martha were – Lazarus was dead.

  13. He was raised for our justification. • (Rom 4:24-25 KJV) But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; {25} Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

  14. He is our Reason for Hope • (1 Cor 15:13-23 NKJV) But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. {14} And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. {15} Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up; if in fact the dead do not rise. {16} For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen.

  15. He is our Reason for Hope • (1 Cor 15:13-23 NKJV) {17} And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! {18} Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. {19} If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. {20} But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

  16. He is our Reason for Hope • (1 Cor 15:13-23 NKJV) {21} For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. {22} For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. {23} But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ's at His coming.

  17. The Jews understood about a Day • (Mat 22:23-33 NKJV) The same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Him and asked Him, {24} saying: "Teacher, Moses said that if a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up offspring for his brother. {25} "Now there were with us seven brothers. The first died after he had married, and having no offspring, left his wife to his brother..

  18. The Jews understood about a Day • (Mat 22:23-30 NKJV) {26} "Likewise the second also, and the third, even to the seventh. {27} "Last of all the woman died also. {28} "Therefore, in the resurrection, whose wife of the seven will she be? For they all had her." {29} Jesus answered and said to them, "You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God. {30} "For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in heaven..

  19. Martha Understood • (John 11:24 NKJV) Martha said to Him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day."

  20. What Kind of Body? • (1 Cor 15:42-49 NIV) So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; {43} it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; {44} it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

  21. What Kind of Body? • (1 Cor 15:42-49 NIV) { {45} So it is written: "The first man Adam became a living being" ; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit. {46} The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual. {47} The first man was of the dust of the earth, the second man from heaven.

  22. What Kind of Body? • (1 Cor 15:42-49 NIV) {48} As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the man from heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. {49} And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven.

  23. What Kind of Body? • (1 John 3:2 NKJV) Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

  24. Mary thought he was the gardener • (John 20:15-16 NKJV) Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?" She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him, "Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away." {16} Jesus said to her, "Mary!" She turned and said to Him, "Rabboni!" (which is to say, Teacher).

  25. The Apostles Didn’t Recognize Him • (John 21:3-7 NKJV) Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We are going with you also." They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing. {4} But when the morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. {5} Then Jesus said to them, "Children, have you any food?" They answered Him, "No.”

  26. The Apostles Didn’t Recognize Him • (John 21:3-7 NKJV) {6} And He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish. {7} Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and plunged into the sea.

  27. Two on the way to Emmaus • (Luke 24:14-18 NKJV) And they talked together of all these things which had happened. {15} So it was, while they conversed and reasoned, that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them. {16} But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not know Him. {17} And He said to them, "What kind of conversation is this that you have with one another as you walk and are sad?”

  28. Two on the way to Emmaus • (Luke 24:14-18 NKJV) {18} Then the one whose name was Cleopas answered and said to Him, "Are You the only stranger in Jerusalem, and have You not known the things which happened there in these days?" . . .

  29. Two on the way to Emmaus • (Luke 24:30-31 NKJV). . . {30} Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. {31} Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight.

  30. He had flesh and Bones • (Luke 24:32-43 NKJV) And they said to one another, "Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?" {33} So they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, {34} saying, "The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon

  31. He had flesh and Bones • (Luke 24:32-43 NKJV) {35} And they told about the things that had happened on the road, and how He was known to them in the breaking of bread. {36} Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, "Peace to you." {37} But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed they had seen a spirit.

  32. He had flesh and Bones • (Luke 24:32-43 NKJV) {38} And He said to them, "Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts? {39} "Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.”

  33. He had flesh and Bones • (Luke 24:32-43 NKJV) {40} When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. {41} But while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, He said to them, "Have you any food here?" {42} So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb. {43} And He took it and ate in their presence.

  34. Our blessed hope • (Titus 2:13-14 NKJV) looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, {14} who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.

  35. We shall be like Him • (1 John 3:2 NKJV) Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

  36. What it means for us • (1 John 3:3 NKJV) And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

  37. What is Beautiful about today?

  38. What is Beautiful about today? • It reminds us that because He lives, we shall live also.

  39. What is Beautiful about today? • It reminds us that because He lives, we shall live also. • Because He lives, we have that blessed hope.
