  6. Characteristics of Effective Learning

  7. Learning Through PlayAll areas of development are implemented through planned and purposeful play. These opportunities for learning can be child-initiated tasks or led by an adult.

  8. Assessment and Progress We build a picture of your child’s progress by; • Daily observations to understand their level of achievement, interests and learning. • Recording what the child says and does, taking photos and analysing a combination of this information. • Early in the first term we form a Baseline Assessment and set next steps from this information • Parent’s Evenings and Wow Workshops. We ask you to participate in your child’s learning by commenting on tasks and events in their lives

  9. The Early Learning Goals All Prime and Specific Areas have age and stage related targets and which end with an Early Learning Goal This is the expected level of progress children may have attained by the end of their entire EYFS experience. Early Learning Goal for Writing Children use their phonic knowledge to write words in ways which match their spoken sounds. They also write some irregular common words. They write simple sentences which can be read by themselves and others. Some words are spelt correctly and others are phonetically plausible. Our aim is to regularly inform you of where your child is in terms of their age and stage in relation to these goals

  10. Handwriting Example

  11. Early Learning Goal for Number Children count reliably with numbers from 1 to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer. They solve problems, including doubling, halving and sharing.
