  1. 2008 WDAFS Spawning Run: A Run with the Springers Continuing with the theme of the meeting, the annual Spawning Run will allow you to think about the effects of population growth and urbanization on our western fisheries as you run upriver with returning adult spring Chinook. Once you cross the Hawthorn Bridge, it is all down river. From the Hawthorn Bridge you will be traveling downstream with this year’s out-migrating smolts. Although your run is about to end as you cross the Steel Bridge, wish your fellow runners, the smolts, good luck because their journey has just begun. The race will be timed for all participants and there will be awards for the first three finishers in each four categories: alevin (up to age 29), Parr (30-39), smolts (40-49), and adults (50+) The course will be fun, flat, and fast. The start/end location for the run is a short walk/jog from the DoubleTree. If you are not interested in warming-up before the race, you can board the light-rail (no fare required) at the DoubleTree and get off at the Rose Quarter stop. More information will be available at the Registration Table during the Annual Meeting. Date: Tuesday, May 6 Race Start: 6:15 AM Location: Willamette Waterfront DoubleTree Start and End
