    2. HISTORY & DEVELOPMENT OF STRATA TITLE ACT MALAYSIA 1. Prior to 1957 various State Land Laws 2. 1965 National Land Code formulated – provision of Subsidiary Titles 3. 1985..Strata Title Act implemented replacing Subsidiary Titles in NLC 1965 4. Four amendment of STA so far in 1990, 1996, 2001, and the recent one April 2007.

    5. PREVIOUS STRATA TITLE ACT: APPLICATION FOR SUB-DIVISION OF A BUILDING 6. Buildings capable of being sub-divided (1) Any building or buildings having two or more storeys on alienated land held as one lot under final title (whether Registry or Land Office title) shall be capable of being subdivided into parcels; and any building or buildings having only one storey on the same land shall also be capable of being subdivided into parcels to be held under strata titles or into accessory parcels.

    6. LATEST AMENDED STRATA TITLE ACT: APPLICATION FOR SUBDIVISION OF A BUILDING OR LAND 6. Building or land capable of being subdivided into parcels. (1) Any building having two or more storeys on alienated land held as one lot under final title (whether Registry or Land Office title) shall be capable of being subdivided into parcels; and any land on the same lot shall also be capable of being subdivided into parcels each of which is to be held under a strata title or an accessory parcel. (1A) Any alienated land having two or more buildings held as one lot under final title (whether Registry or Land Office title) shall be capable of being subdivided into land parcels each of which is to be held under a strata title or as an accessory parcel.
