  9. Health Check Visits • Each school is entitled to a half day on site with a SIMS expert • The visiting consultant will have a minimum of 5 years appropriate experience in the use and support of SIMS and be able to answer any questions you may have about the system

  10. Health Check Visits • The purpose of the visit is to • baseline the use of the MIS in each school • provide school leaders with a view of ways in which better use of the system can improve and streamline processes in school.

  11. Health Check Visits • One half day is not a lot to cover all that SIMS can do and the school will have priorities for discussion • In order to focus discussion, schools are asked to complete a form prior to arranging the visit • http://www.osmisschools.com/audit/

SIMS Technical Essentials • 28th April – full day • By the end of the course you will be understand the range of approaches to the maintenance and management of the SIMS system including:identifying the components of SIMS\FMSusing SOLUS to upgrade SIMS\FMSusing DBAttach to upgrade SIMS\FMSusing SOLUS to apply a patchusing DBAttach to apply a patchhow to backup and restore SIMS and FMSan understanding of what SQL is and how it worksHow to create users and reset passwords in System Manager.

Assessment Essential Skills - Secondary ~ 2 day course • 1st and 2nd May – 2 days • By the end of the course you will be understand the key components and capabilities of SIMS Assessment including: • marksheet features; aspects: grade sets; result sets; categories; system utilities;templates; groups; formulae; individual reports; basic analysis of data

Extended Reporting 6th May – full day At the end of this course delegates will be able to:produce more complicated lists and mail merged documentsmodify templates to adjust the appearance of reports including incorporating headed paperdevelop the use of RTF output exploring cross-modular links in the datause different focuses as the starting point for reportsexplore the use of macros in Excel related reportsextending the use of the Analysis tool
