INTRO: • Out of last week’s topic being the head and not the tail or being the lender not the borrower, almost all of us must have been motivated to be rich • If we are not careful the desire to be rich could lead us to poverty or destruction • 1 Timothy 6:9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into

  3. many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. AIM: • FOR US NOT TO BE DECEIVE WITH RICHES • FOR US TO STUDY THE DECEPTIONS BROUGHT BY RICHES QUESTION:What are the deceptions brought by riches?

  4. I. MONEY IS THE ANSWER TO ALL THINGS • Ecclesiastes 10:19 • A feast is made for laughter, • And wine makes merry; • But money answers everything. • This was written by Solomon • Do you agree with him? • Can money buy everything? • What are those things that can’t be bought with money?

  5. Proverbs 11:4 Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, • But righteousness delivers from death. • Salvation • Righteousness • Peace • Isaiah 32:17 The work of righteousness will be peace, • And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever.

  6. 4. Joy • You can be temporarily happy with your money but you can’t have joy with it 5. Hope and Faith • Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

MONEY EQUATES TO LOVE AND ATTENTION • Some people believe that because they are working for you and giving you money, that’s love or they love you • Yes, it’s true but not all times • Love can never be bought and is not for sale • Sometimes love can be best expressed in giving time to our love ones

  8. The tendency of believing this lie is, you will just give money to your love ones and treat them however you like III. NO MONEY, NO HONEY • The saying usually applies to the impact of riches men has towards women • It also means sweetness or amicable living towards others

Sweetness-the state or quality of having a pleasant or agreeable manner in socializing with others • So when people don’t have money, they are irritable, ill-tempered, agitated, mad or angry • When they have money or on payday, they are happy, you hardly see them gat angry IV. MONEY CAN GIVE YOU LOTS OF FRIENDS • What kind of friends are they?

Proverbs 14:20 • The poor man is hated even by his own neighbour, • But the rich has many friends. • Friends could be opportunistic, they are good to you as long as they can get something from you • Mat 5:44 “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who

  11. spitefully use you and persecute you • We should have many friends not by being rich but who we truly are • A friend in need is a friend indeed • Matthew 26:50 Jesus replied, “Do what you came for, friend.” Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus and arrested him.

  12. V. MONEY IS THE SOLUTION TO POVERTY • Cares of this world refers to anxiety, money related problems, worries • Money is not the answer to our cares but God is • 1Peter 5:6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,

  13. 1 Peter 5:7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you • God is the answer to our poverty • 2 Corinthians 6:10 as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things. • Money is not the solution to our debt-discipline is • Poverty could not be solve with donations

  14. VI. MONEY CAN PRESERVE OR PROLONG LIFE • This is very true esp. in the Philippines • The more money you have, the longer your life will be • The more money you have, you have lesser problem to face • More money, less worries • It would be easier to obey the Lord with your riches

The truth is these are all lies, it easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle that for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God • 1Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

  16. VII. MONEY MAKES YOU RICH • Proverbs 10:22 • The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, • And He adds no sorrow with it • Blessing as in favour • (source of) blessing-God • blessing, prosperity • blessing, praise of God • a gift, present • treaty of peace

  17. Psalm 62:10 • Do not trust in oppression, • Nor vainly hope in robbery; • If riches increase, • Do not set your heart on them. • Trust in the Lord with all your heart not on riches CHALLENGE: • Do you desire to be rich? • Don’t you love money?
