  1. Taking an Exam What you need to get started.

  2. The Main Menu To begin a new exam, click the Start Exam button.

  3. Category Selection Under Select an Exam Category, there will be a list of available exam types. Custom Exams refers to exams you have created. In this demo, we will select the Office XP Specialist category.

  4. Exam Selection If you selected the wrong category, click the Category to change it. Under Select an Exam, click the exam you wish to take.

  6. 2. 3. 2. This feature puts a time limit on your exam. Each exam has a default time limit, but you can set any time limit if you customize the exam. 4. 3. Enabling training gives you immediate feedback after each question, and the option to repeat questions with step-by-step instructions to complete all tasks. 4. Turning on this feature creates an entry in the Exam Database that stores the results of your test. Exam Options 1. Turn on this option to randomize the order of questions. If this option is off, questions will be administered in section order (for example, All questions on Working with Text, followed by questions on Working with Files, etc). 1.

  7. 2. 3. 4. 2. These buttons will select or clear all question in the exam. 3. This counter shows you how many questions are currently selected. 4. Click this button to start the exam once you’ve finished customizing. Customizing Exams 1. 1. To customize the exam, select questions from the list. Selecting a Section heading includes or removes all the questions in that section.

  8. The Exam Screen 1. 2. 2. The bottom section of the screen is the Question Box. It will be discussed in detail on the next slide. 1. The top section of the screen during an exam is the Microsoft application, such as Word. All features will perform normally—this is the true application, not a simulation.

Open the Exam Options Box (covered in next slide) 7. General question text 8. Maroon denotes exact text to enter in application (such as typing the word “Sophia”) 9. Bold text is provided for clarity

  10. The Exam Options Box Returns you to the Question Box. Change the font size of the text in the Question Box with these options. Small is the default. Continue exam later stops the current test and closes Self Test Software. You can resume it later by clicking Continue Exam on the Main Menu. Skip Remaining Questions moves immediately to the end of the test. You receive feedback on those questions you completed.

  13. 5. Set results of a future retake to be saved in the database (retake results are normally discarded). The database record of the first test score will not be modified. 5. 6. 7. 8. 6.
