Benchmarking Objectives • Compile “best” practices and “norms” in areas of interest to Pilot Plant group • Survey members from a cross section of CPI • Disseminate results • In a way that members and organizations can benchmark effectively with • In a format that does not raise competitive issues

  3. Benchmarking Topics • Business objectives for pilot plants • Staffing for construction and operation of Pilot Plants • Pilot Plant Automation • EH&S Issues/Consideration in Pilot Plants

  4. Project Timeline • Finalize topics - Complete • Finalize questionnaires – 4Q 2002 • Being drafted by team members • Will be reviewed by a professional survey organization (courtesy of Paul McKenzie – BMS) • Circulate for responses – 2Q 2003 • Team will choose a representative cross section of CPI, representing major industry sections • Considering use of “Zoomerang” service for conducting and analyzing survey • Compile responses – 3Q 2003 • Analyze by industry section/demographic • Present at San Francisco, Fall 2003 • Considering a full session with 4 papers and discussion format
