  9. 2.Disadvantages • City Living : work is not as meaning ful; loss of connection to the land; kids might not have enough to do so could get in trouble with guns. • Country Living: very low income; not close to stores & malls; services like telephone or internet not as good as in city.   10. The word “Use” page 27 • Sentence 1: I use a computer to write my reports. Meaning : I write my reports witha computer. Definition : use to do something with something (a tool, machine, etc…) • Sentence 2 : I used to live in the country in the past, but now I live in New York City. Meaning: I lived in the country in the pas, but now I live in New York City. Definition: used to was done in the past but is not done now. • Sentence 3: I`m used to the noise. At first the sound of traffic kept me awake at night. After living in the city for five years, the noise doesn`t bother me. Meaning : At the beginning, the noise was strange to me and kept me awake at night, but now I am familiar with it and can sleep.   13. GRAMMAR: Simple Past Tense • When we talk about things that happened in the past, we use the Simple Past tense. e.g. Last summer, I worked on a farm. I went to the city yesterday. • To form simple past tense for regular verbs, add -ed to the base form of the verb. e.g. work------- worked • If the verb end in –e ,add only –d. e.g. live -----lived • If the verb ends in – y, change the y to iand then add-ed . e.g. carry------carried • Many irregular past tense forms.
