  6. Instructor Bio Teaching Read 180, English as a Second Language and Spanish has been my experience for the past 15 years. I’m a graduate of Oregon State University with a B.A in Spanish and Ed.M in Curriculum and Instruction. I speak Spanish. At the present time I teach READ 180 at Roberts Structured Learning Center. I love to read and love to teach students who hate to read. In my spare time I travel, take pictures and make projects with digital photography.

  12. Class with Jeff Corwin This class will be taught using videos from the Jeff Corwin TV show. In his videos Jeff travels all over the world to find rare, exotic and sometimes dangerous animals. Just to show to you!

  13. Class with Jeff Corwin You will watch the videos and also read what he says in the videos. This approach to reading leaves the books behind and draws in information from TV, the internet and sometimes from me, the teacher.

  18. Frogs of Costa Rica Tiny Costa Rica stretches across Central America from the Caribbean to the Pacific. From the central portion that is home to the La Reserve .We’re going to head toward the west coast to the Arribada. But there are a few more natural wonders here I’d like to show you.

  19. Frogs of Costa Rica A worm! Worms! Ok, nice! Look at this. You can’t see me Mr. Jeff Corwin, not only can I see it I can identify it. And it is….Wow! It is a Red Eye Tree Frog, probably the ambassador for the new world tropics. Beautiful and I’m so excited about this encounter because normally to find this frog.

  22. What have we learned? Jeff Corwin travels around the world making videos about different cultures, people and animals. In this video we learned about poison tree frogs. Jeff showed us different species of tree frogs that were poisonous. We learned that poisonous means anything containing, producing or acting as a poison. The Poison Dart Tree Frog reproduces by laying eggs inside of leaf-cups made by bromeliad plants. The parents then transport the tadpoles after they hatch to other leaf cups.

  23. What have we learned? The poison is a toxic chemical in the skin of the frog. Some are so dangerous they can kill a person, others only make you sick. The reason poison dart frogs have the poison is to keep predators from eating them. The bright colors of the frogs are to warn predators that they can be poisonous. South American natives used the poison from the frogs to make darts for hunting. They would rub the tip of the dart in the mucous of the poisonous frog’s skin. The darts were used in blowguns.
