  5. Identifiers of Individuals involved in Change • Innovator: Approximately 8% of any group. Eager to try new ideas, open to change, willing to take risks. • Leader: Approx. 17% of any group. Open to change but more thoughtful in getting involved.

  6. Early Majority: Approx. 29% of any group. Cautious and deliberate about deciding to adopt an innovation. • Late Majority: Approx. 29% of any group. Skeptical about adopting new ideas and are “set in their ways.” • Resisters: Approx. 17% of any group. These individuals are suspicious and generally opposed to new ideas.

  7. Identifiers • Not meant to be negative or positive • Provides information for the change facilitator • Important Ideas: **Recognizing how a teacher approaches a change to classroom practice and **Understanding ways to work with each individual

  8. Reflecting on a Recent Interaction • Think about a recent interaction with a teacher about a change in his or her mathematics program. Describe some of their concerns about the change. • What are your concerns about implementing the CCSS? Describe some of your concerns.

  9. Paragraph Reflections • In Groups of Three • Reflect on your own concerns. Are they at higher stages than the people you are working with? Analyze comments/questions you wrote 2 weeks ago. What are the stages of concern?

  10. Supporting Change • When you think about your role in facilitating change in mathematics, what are you concerned about?
