What is the difference between the two? Is one better than the other? Read more to find out. Both olive oil and refined vegetable oil have their own appeals without a doubt. A majority of households actually use refined vegetable oil simply because of the fact that vegetable oil is cheaper to use. However, is there a reason as to why natural olive oil is still comparatively a more expensive oil that can be used? Well one can always think of the health benefits of olive oil when asking this question. But when compared, where do both these oils stand really? Let us have a look. What are they? Refined vegetable Oil: The main difference between olive oil like olive pomace cooking oil and refined vegetable oil is the fact that vegetable oil can be both edible and non-edible in nature. The ones that are used for cooking, that is the edible ones are essentially derived from one single plant source. In some cases, refined vegetable oil can also be a blend of two or more different oils. Olive Oil: Solely obtained from olive using an extraction process, Leonardo Olive Oil has now become quite popular among a large population. This holds especially true for most Mediterranean countries. Of the many things that make a difference to the way olive oil tastes, region, climate, the altitude at which the plants are growing and the time when they are harvested play a vital role. Health benefits Refined Vegetable oil: A few kinds of refined vegetable oils like canola oil and the likes have been known to contain a lower amount of saturated fats. However, this might just be one of the few health benefits that vegetable oils can boasts of. However, a few vegetable oils like coconut and sesame are used in specific dishes to enhance its flavours.

Olive oil has found to be brilliantly beneficial in helping reduce risk of heart diseases as it contains monounsaturated fatty acids, which prevent the bad cholesterol from getting oxidised and cause harm to the body. The LDL levels that is the bad cholesterol levels go down white the HDL levels go up. This is not all! Since olive oil is a low cholesterol cooking oil, it helps reduce the cholesterol present in our blood leading to healthier cholesterol levels. Essentially this makes olive oil the healthiest cooking oil available to us. Storing Even though the storage of oils should always be done in a cool and dark place, there are a few exceptions to the rule. Some oils, despite the storage technique being followed to the T have a shorter shelf life than other oils. Like on one end when oils need to be used withing 6 months of opening it, olive oil could very well last for 9 months. When it comes to vegetable oils, oils like sesame which is unrefined in nature need to be stored away from direct light and in cold storage. On the other hand, saturated oils like coconut and palm can be saved in room temperature. The Bottom Line: When it comes down to the basics, like health, budget and the other nitty gritty, both the oils, i.e. refined vegetable oil and pomace cooking oil, both have their benefits without a doubt.
